Hola,

Submission for mix review. I'm kinda stuck at what to do with this one next, and some ideas would be appreciated, if you think I can improve it.

The track "erogenous" can be heard @ http://mp3.com/ulcerate and it's a foray into some heavier territory for the project, hence maybe why this tune has proved to be a stubborn beast. I think the ideas are there, but sonically I'm not doing it justice.

Equipment used: Epi Les Paul, Hartke 5-string bass, Line 6 POD's and DL-4, Rode NT-1 mic, Behringer mixer, PC w/SB Live. Recording into Cool Edit Pro using Waves & Hyperprism plugins.

Feedback/comments appreciated :)

All around cool tune!
About the mixing heres my comments:
Vocals need to be louder and I like the panning. But at the same time the guitars might be too loud and thus drowning out the vocals. Awesome work on the guitars though!
At the 4:37 time in the song, I think needs the most work, something sounds a little choppy going into the last chorus. Maybe the build isnt strong enough, and thats just my taste, but I like the idea. Overall though it sounds good. BTW, what did you use for the vocal effects? I use a NT1 and cant seem to get it to sound as smooth as your song.

Keep it up!
John

I'd have to agree with sondriven with his mixing suggestions. Great song, though. Definately keep it up. Very well written, arranged and recorded.

Cheers for the feedback and suggestions Sean & John. Definitely taken on board.

As to the NT-1 sound. The vocal effects I used were, Waves DX compression, Cool Edit's stock-standard delay and a mild phaser courtesy of ANWIDA Soft FX. I don't actually think the "smoothness" is from those fx though. I think it may be the standard mic pre's on my little Behringer mixer as I've recorded other vocals and gotten a pretty similar sound without effects. Or maybe it's that gallon of cooking oil I drink each day....smooooooth :)

Thanks again

cool tune simes,

I was digging it till 0:24. THat sound was loud and a bit harsh.
The vocals need body. At a point I stopped understanding what was being said. Maybe this is the goal?

Other than that, I think its pretty cool.

I checked out this tune, sounds cool.

I am actually wondering now if there is something wrong with my system. The vocals were so low that I could barely even tell they were vocals. This happened last week with another tune I checked out. Either the vocals need to go WAY up, or I need some new gear:rolleyes:

Good stuff, I really enjoyed it:cool: Look forward to the remix
