Frustrated performer in need of jump start

OK - here's my situation: I'm brand new to home recording. I am a guitar player with a Roland Jam Station, and a newly aquired Roland GR 30 Guitar synthesizer. I want to create backgrounds to accompany live performances, and I've reached an impasse as to what to do next. Like anyone else, my funds are limited, but I don't want to make the the mistake of going too cheap. I have no idea what sequencing is, and I don't know if pre-recorded stuff is even available or where to find it. So far, I have not used my computer in pursuit of this interest; I don't know how. I'm so clueless, I don't know what I dont know.

Depending on the type of music you play, GC has several karaoke style CDs that are meant to be played against. IOW, they are backing tracks that leave out the Bass, Drums or Guitar.
