Trailing Behind Again
Hello all, and good day! I am a novice musician who has just recently discovered the joys and hang-ups of digital recording. I jumped from an analog 4-track straight into a Fostex MR-8. :p which I love. I started recently to put vocals on my tracks, which sound good when I use my standard singing voice, but I sound like a skinned cat when I try to do harmony vocals. I can hear harmony, and can get close, but I go falsetto in the upper ranges, and scare away the whole neighborhood's cats. Is there a DirectX plug in that will do the harmonies for me that doesn't cost anything? I am on a strict budget, with a wife who will not let me spend money on my "hobby", so shareware and all those other goodies out there are out the "window", pun intended. I am running XP as an OS. Help!

Suggestion

Dump the wife......and make friends with the neighborhood cats until you learn to sing your harmonies better.

Take this advise from someone who has been married a long time.....

If it is OK for your wife to "not let you spend money on your hobby" it should be OK for you to "not let her tell you what you can and can't spend your money on"....within reason of course.

I agree with the wife. Why spend your money when you don't need to? Take some time and learn how to sing :D

I agree with Bartman! My studio has never been happier than after I split with my wife! :D

Of course, learning to sing isn't a bad idea either!

Here's a compromise- Have your wife sing harmony! If she can't then you're justified in buying whatever you want to fix/replace the problem! ;)

Much Thanks!

Thanks for the responses, both serious and humorous! I will look on hit squad. Also, my wife is a great singer, but she is not interested in what I am doing. :(
