Apologies in advance; this post is probably unacceptably stupid, even for the noob forum. Also excuse my noob vocabulary. Here goes:

I'm simply trying to figure out a setup that enables me to do two things:

1. Output drum samples from my computer (which is running Battery) to a line 6 pedal to create loops, which in turn go to an amp. This I've been able to figure out.

2. Listen to samples from Battery on headphones with the loop playing underneath, without the sample going through to the amp / line 6 until I want them to.

I've been told that all I need to achieve this arrangement is a mixer. I purchased a Behringer 806, and I've been able to get to the point where I can listen to samples in my headphones without them going through to the line 6 / amp, but I can't figure out a setup that will enable the loop to play in my headphones while I'm doing this.

This probably doesn't even make sense, but hey, I'm frustrated and want to figure this out.

Is there a Youtube vid of someone doing what you are attempting that you could link up?

BTW did you mean the Behringer 802 mixer? I looked and didn't see an 806.

You should be able to have the headphones monitoring the main mix (which in fact should be the default) which includes both the loop and the sample, but only route the loop to your amp on a separate buss.

But that's a very very basic mixer you have there, it may not have the buss capability to do that. I used to have one but sold it, so I can't pull it out and have a look.

A larger mixer will probably have a secondary buss you can allocated individual channels to...

Someone with more info about mixers than me will have to help you, I'm afraid. Luck...
