Wahey! Finally finished. I'm actually pleased with this mix, I think it sounds pretty good and clear, so bring me all back down to earth again :D The one thing that does need changing is, I'm gonna add a bit of variety in when it gets to the bridge, some other part.

The lyrics: (although I think you can actually hear them this time :D)

Your eyes are just like mine, reflection, of me or so it seems
You have been within,
You're what I could have been,
I threw it all away, it's waiting, amongst the unknown dreams of another time,
I'll come and claim them mine,

Maybe when I sleep tonight, I'll find them near the stars of frosty skies, frosty skies.

Maybe when I weep tonight, that'll make me seem to realize,

And when I close my eyes, imagine, past the clouds of remorse and discomfort,
don't let memories hurt,
I try and take those dreams, if not now, for a future life somewhere past those stars, found distant and afar.

Maybe when I sleep tonight, I'll find them near the stars of frosty skies, frosty skies.

Maybe when I weep tonight, that'll make me seem to realize,

Regret is playing on my mind,
Let our lives be intertwined,
In the mirror I want to see you,
take our pictures let them merge,
our identities converge,
change my old self make me something new.

Your eyes are just like mine, when smiling, we seem to be the same, I know that we are, both looking at those stars,
No longer do I hope of comfort,
I never feel the pain of those memories,
lost in the old debris,
I know that you are now me.

Enjoy :)

One more thing, if you want to compare it to the pile of rubbish it was before, this is the first version:

:)

Cane,

Up all night it's 7a/m I gotta crash. Can't wait to catch it tomorry. :)

What a nice and friendly song! Like the chords and the harmonies. Everything sounds pretty good I think, except for the vocals. Every time you start singing I hear a lot of hiss. The vocal sound itself sounds quite dirty too. Shame...especially with delicate songs like these.

Any explanation for this? Bad mic? :)

The possible explanation was that I was urinating at the same time ;) Nah I'm not sure. It may be that it gained a certain amount of distortion through the mixdown, it has done this before. It sounded alright to me but I guess obviously not :) The mic seems OK. I'll check this out later on. Oh, and I don't have a preamp, it's going straight in :(

Thanks for the positive comments :D

Straight in, as in 'using the soundcard mic amplifier?'....I hate to sound like a semi pro tech freak but that's baaaaaaaaaad. :) (unless you like dirt and hiss) ;)

Yep you got it. Impressed that I managed to keep the hiss down? :) Anyone wanna buy me a preamp? :(

Lemme guess, the card is a SssssssssssssssssBLive?

Nope. I'm not even that high up in the equation :D AC97 (rock on!) lol. I'm impressed I managed to get anything out of it at all lol

Sssssssh, CanopuS....give people some time, please. :)

That didnt sound too bad for an "onboard AC97 chip"..... that was like uhhh, 4 audio tracks maybe?

5 maximum :D With several effects overall, unfortunately that meant I had to delete tracks and paste them back in after I'd recorded, to stop dropouts :)

OK, first thing on your list should be: a better soundcard

You deserve one...don't waste your talent... :)

I have talent?

*Celebrates* Drinks are on me! :D :D :D

I guess that the fact that I recorded my first album at the age of 14, and am only 15 now means I still have a while yet :)
I seem to be the only person here who isn't married :D

**powering on**

BEEP.. BEEP BEEP BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP

hahaha, i've got a bad memory! Ok, enough with the trekkie style jokes.

Great content CanopuS, I keep recognizing tons of potential in your writing. If I had just laid down these tracks they feel fertile enough that I would not stop adding and tracking for like 2 days.

One thing I started to hear was a real sweet piano. Dunno why but it just mentally showed up and wouldn't leave.

This is another demonstration of your solid material, a wise man once told me something like "When you realize how to present your material in a mixing context, your talent becomes more evident" err.. something like that ;) I think he's applicable in this case.

lol :) Thanks for the compliments, and wise words of the wise master (Been reading too much Zen here)

Anyway, it's funny you should suggest Piano, because thats actually my main instrument, guitar is my secondary and I'm just teaching myself really (as you can hear!). I will add piano when I can scab a laptop to take into the other room :)

Thanks again
