Hi!
I´m contemplating the famous RME card. But I will need an external digital mixer (including a digital converter) too of some kind that I can hook up my other digital/analog gear, including speakers and headphones, to. I haven´t found any such reasonable priced thing (RMEs own converters, for example, are no real mixers, lacking speaker and headphone plugs) -- have you?
The Yamaha 01V, to mention a digital mixer, look a bit outdated with its "20-bit, 128-times oversampling ADs on each input, 20-bit, 8-times oversampling DAs on the stereo outputs, as well as 18-bit, 8-times oversampling DAs on the Omni outputs and monitor outputs and 44-bit EQ processing" and ain´t exactly cheap either (costs about 3 times as much as the RMEcard).
As an alternative, with the soundcard Echo Layla 24 I would get the mixer and converters I need that for just a few 100 dollars more compared to just buying the Hammerfall (which, in itself, without converters and a mixer, is useless).
By the way, how many tracks of 24bit recording can I expect with a RME Hammerfall card and a Pentium III 600, 256 mb and a 7200 rpm HD?
Comments? Thanks for your time.
