from the ground, up..... HELP

I'm tring to start up my home studio and I need some advice at this point. setup:

PC 550 PIII
128 mb RAM
4.3 Gb SCSI hard drive
Phillips CD-RW
GadetLabs Wave 824
Boston Acoustics "Theater" speakers
Cubase VST
Rebirth
Alesis QS6.1
lots-o-guitars
two guitar amps.

I want to lay down lots of tracks, of every
type imaginable. What is a good cheap way to import audio into my soundcard? Any good suggestions on my next step?

You need a mixing board. If you need a big one go with Behringer, they are rather inexpencive and they are a bit more transparent sounding than Mackie. I have a 20 channel Behringer rackmount board and I got it new for $500

With this class of board, I'm partial to the various Allen & Heath MixWizard models, due to their low THD, low noise floor, and excellent flexibility.
