hey guys,

after hearing mkg's old recordings, and Lt. Bob's classics, I figured I would put up 2 old tunes from the vault..

Maybe they should have stayed there.. :D

They were recorded with a TEAC 1/2" reel to reel..

If anyone is interested, there not at my usual link..

they're here www.nowhereradio.com/samicide/singles

'the busiest graveyard' is the first.. there are no keyboards on this tune.. All the sounds were from a Digitech 2112 and a mexi strat..

'On the End' has keyboards.. The sounds are the stock keyboard sounds from the soundcard on my crusty old computer..

The drums were a DM5.. My friend Dan plays drums on 'on the end' I played drums on 'the busiest graveyard'

I was still trying to find my sound on these. :D

This is a walk down bad memory lane, and there are many, many flaws.. :D

thanks!

Sam, these are totally cool... listening to an artist-in-the-making.
I was listening and thinking how far you've come from this point to be able to do something as cool as "Riches to Rags."
Thanks for posting these, man.

Mark

Wierd scenes inside the graveyard (Mr Morrison probably got a chucle out of that). Not bad at all Sami. I like the change with the guitar that sounds almost like either bagpipe or a recorder. Way better than my old stuff by a long shot.

Sounds cool-has the trademark Sami-low tuned guitar-I like the melody and harmony vocal-and E-bow---hmm im having major streaming troubles-I got the gist of it though-sound wasnt bad at all-though not the huuuuge sound you got us all used to. How long ago was this recorded?>

BTW-I think we have the same vocal processor-that digitech thing-I don't recall the model---but do you use presets?-if so which ones?-I'm going to be working on a distorted vocal track soon and was thinking of using that unit--I remember you got some nice grainy but smooth vocal sounds----anyway maybe I'll ask you in a pm lata.thx.

Cool - classic Sam. Listened to "Busiest..." Liked the changeup and guit at 3:35. Liked the Ozzy impression begining at 3:55. :D

I thought it was quite a good song. You've come a long way since this. If you re-made it from scratch now it might be my favorite from you.

How long ago did you do it? I'm trying to get an idea of how long it took you to acquire the skills you currently have.

Thanks Sam.

woo-hoo... I had to coment on this one... :)
I only listened to "on the end" so far, kind of afraid of the other one right now :D ....

classc-sam ... ha ha that's funny TripleM... :D

man that ebow is wiiiiicked sounding.... :) realy like the changes ... different songs all together but it's so ... sam ... :D

there is a little clean sound lead ... cool (didn't notice it first)

good singing and harmonies man... I don't know if it was done with autotune but the pitch is great...

I didn't make out all the lyrics but I think it was somehow hopefull tune...

don't know if you want any critique... so I just say I liked it dude... you got your sound cold... now come out from "the dark side" ... repeat after me ... G ... C ... D .... :D

cheers

thank's for sharing these man!!

peace

Vox UP Please!! Sorry, couldn't help it.......:D

Sami in the making, Raw Sab, Samicide, the early years.......................

your vision shines through regardless. And, you've been tracking great forever, no? You probably have a perfectly leveled recording of your birth with "Sammy" in the engineer credits:)

Very cool share on "graveyard".

You've a wonderful metal voice!! You must do a singing version of that "beast song" and let me hear how I should have done it if I could. Please, please........oh wait, fuck you. :D :D . Gotta keep things in balance.

Send email word if you consider my request.

Thanks for the "prototype" listen.

Peace,

Theron.

And I will buy the Beer....

I am consistently impressed and entertained by your work. Fuck it, post all of it. I want the stuff you recorded when you were 7 and you had the handheld taperecorder with the "built in" microphone.

Listened to "On The End," and I couldn't even tell when that huge edit took place :D :D :D

Also listened to your hypnotic talents on "The Busiest Graveyard." I can't critique, and that's not what you're looking for anyway with this stuff...but I don't think it'd be "1 Star" if you recorded it today. I mean, MY GOD, HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO RECORD ALL THOSE GUITAR SWELLS???

Cool stuff...have stars..

Listened to "On The End: -- Good stuff. Really reminds me of Alice In Chains. I guess your not really looking for mixing advice or anything since this stuff is pretty old...

I really like how you changed the solo throughout...really gave the song a distinct feel and it has your trademark change in the middle...nice job!

I'll try to catch the Graveyard song when I have a bit more time...

I love the moodiness of "graveyard" did you actually get Ozzy to sit in on this one?? Man when the lead comes in it almost took my head off!!
Love the feeling of it all!!

Now im back out on the street again
It never rains unless it pours

"The Busiest Graveyard"

jeez Sam even your old stuff sounds great :) I was thinkin' bout putting some old 4-track stuff up (once I put up some current stuff, for comparison purposes) but to hell with that :p :D

When you say you didn't know what you were doin', I can't help but think you were bein' modest. Very cool stuff

Busiest Graveyard

I really noticed the bass on this one. It sounds great...

Real good singing on this...it completely fits the mood. This song is pretty deep all around.

I like the feel and you have some very creative musical things happening in there. I think you had a guitar going but it sounded kind of like a pan-flute...which to me is really cool...

Nice changes ... you should've brought this stuff out sooner.

Cool Sam.The vocals and harmonies on "On The End" are about the closest thing to mainstream I've heard from you.:DId like to hear some more vocal stuff like this from you.

Cool keyboard stuff too. This has a vocal hook to it and it sounds like you're singing about spousal abuse.:D

I'll check out the other tune tomorrow. It's getting late.

Can I borrow some ideas? Cause these songs are packed with great ideas. If I heard these blind, I'd still make a connection to you--that style of yours is there. I dug that Digitech swell guitar--it really sounds like a "soundtrack" synth patch. Also enjoyed all the guitar work. You have your own style there too. I like hearing early work by people--especially after I get familiar with their later stuff. I've been thinking about pulling out a couple of tunes from the archives--just to make everybody laugh!

Graveyard was pretty spooky! On The end was a climate change fest if I ever heard one. You pulled it off too. I do think your new stuff is more refined, but these have as much creativity as anything you've posted so far. No mix comments cause I know you probably can't go back....

did not read prev posts.....nice voice and those are the wierdest little guit? parts sporadical in this ...is that reversed ???..WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?/....how do i do it??......can i do it?....just changed tempo....vocals really drop out....YES!!!...and the rock begineth....can you still bring the vocals up on this..?..if so do...

cool syncopated part drums/guitar..that screaming LOVE THAT i cannot do that....damn......i wish i could hear the vocals better.....just dropped back to the first groove...i like all the ambient sounds that run through this is that done with a keyboard???.i think i need one....

cool cool cool....
jamal

HOLY DRUG USE, BATMAN!!

I just had to drop a quick line to say that Jamal's post is an excellent example of the concept known as "STREAM OF CONSCIOUSNESS CRITIQUEING."

roflmao

hehehehe...Put the pipe down, man...Okay, pick it back up :D

(still a cool tune, btw)

Sami, I'm not sure what was going on but, the busiest graveyard started breaking up bad about 4:00 and when I played "on the end" Started breaking up also. I'll try latter.... From what I heard so far, I want to hear them not breaking up.

On The End:
Very interesting and creative. Really good musicianship too. Wickedly sung. I'd dig to get some of your vocals on one of my songs. Love the keys too. The solo at the end with no rythum guitar behind it makes it sound more live. Cool.
The Busiest Graveyard:
Nice scary moody vibe. Volume peddle fitts well. Like the guitar solo at 3:32.
Alternative rock at its best.

Scott...
