Ive been using Nuend 2.0 for quite some time now and I am going to switch to Cubase because my school will be using cubase so I want to get a little head start. I have a Motu 896 interface.First question....Are the preamps in the motu sufficient for a bomb recording? Second Q.........What version of Cubase should I use? Third Q.....anybody from the ventura county area want to collaberate on recording ideas? I appreciate your help. :)

Another question

I have some type of audigy card. Even though I use the firewire port to connect my motu 896 to my computer do I still need a really good sound card? What kind do you reccomend.

No, any other sound card is pointless with the Motu. Think of the MOTU as your sound card.

I'm a big fan of Echo Electronics products. Check 'em out and see which configuration meets your needs. And yes, to anwer your question... lose the Audigy if you're planning on doing any serious recording/monitoring etc. There are several cards by M-Audio that many people like but unfortunately I have no first hand experience with them.
