I wouldn't worry too much about the neg. rep. I just like mixing and think it's fun mixing other people's music. No one is being forced into this. We're all adults, and we can take part if we want, or not.

Thanks Louie for starting the ball rolling. Not bad.
I' don't know how to comment yet......I guess it would be more haunting with good use of reverb and echo delay.....I've yet to learn.
And yes I will mix it myself ....but not without inspiration first.
I only have Acid 5 at the moment it isnt very versitile.
Still I'm happy to share these tracks for others to try their skills.

I'm sure there's an ultimate mix .....time will tell. Enjoy

Hey, no problem bro, like I said before I always have fun mixing your songs. I haven't had time to redo the mix, I'm been busy with other projects but when I get a chance I'll re-post another mix for ya. Glad you like the vocals, that was my best intentions to focus on vocals because everything else, instrumentally sounds great by it's self! Thanks again for the feedback, -LV

Hey...thanks very much. :p

Seriously though Louie, there are slight tuning problems with the guitar track that Gord supplied...you can hear it bending against the piano in your mix. To compensate, I ran the guitar track through 'Reatune' which is a Reaper plugin...maybe you might want to consider using this or some other tuning plug to get the guitar to concert pitch and that goes for anyone else that's mixing this track.....infact I've learnt to just run anything I recieve from Gordon through Reatune first...it saves time in the long run LOL. :D

Mart.

All right. Here's another mix with the vocals and drums re-worked. By the way, I think your voice has a sort of Colin Hay sound to it. If you listen to his new acoustic stuff, you'll hear it.

oh yeh....love the drum cut out near the end.....I'm gonna use that on my mix.
But first.

...Im going to strip it down and just get them drums and base grooving better..

.......I know Luoie V702 is a master at vocal clean up perhaps you could duplicate the track dry for me ....I know you have better tools to add some of your accapello magic?

Not sure I follow. You want the drum track?

I'm also not sure if I follow, you want a copy of a dry vocal track??? Or a copy of the WHOLE track but without effects?:confused::confused:

Some people are giving me bad rep here at hr...think Im getting stuff for free?
I don't care...but understandable if I was making money??
But you know what, I'm a producer, I'm proactive a doer....

When I had my own little studio, I would invite musicians...encourage them, and bring the best out of them....something I can carry on in here.

Im not particularly good at mixing or recording, but I'm organised and can give and take inspiration. I have the courage to share my raw files and I learn from others in the learning process or pro's showing off their skills.

You'll see, my projects will end with something special and all those involved will be part of it and get the credit they deserve. Good or bad mixes?...it doesnt matter....all part of the process to create something worthwhile.

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to explore my challenges.
Moaners stay away.
Cheers

It's simple really. If you want to mix the tracks, then mix them. If you don't want to mix them, don't mix them. If somebody thinks that you're trying to get something for free, you are. But so are those of us who are using your tracks to practice mixing. Because we could be paying for the tracks. This is what is called HELPING each other. You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours. :D

I guess those of us who advertise stuff for sale at HR are looking for a handout because we're not paying to advertise in the local newspaper.:)

OK.. Enough of a rant. Cybergord------keep those songs coming.

Ok, here's my mix.
Not sure if it's final or not...I think it still needs some tweaking but, I thought I'd post it anyway and hopefully get some feedback.

...and the instrumental:-

haha....no I like what you did, dropping out the drums on the last chorus.....
I will try that when I do a mix this weekend. Cheers
I didn't just drop out the drums, I also lowered the piano, and dropped out the bass.

Wow...just had a quick listen.,.....both these mixes are quality.
@Mart....a mix to be proud of......if you do mix again, would love to hear that big echo....'dread that empty space'......like you did before. Brilliant.

@Nothingface...How did you get such a great vocal sound, also nice drum groove. Love this.

I'm hoping to have some time tomorrow to do a mix on my crappy Acid 5.....I really have to use something else...what are you guys using?

I use Cubase, but a lot of people rave about Reaper. Plus Reaper is free.

I threw on some compression, eq, and a medium delay...the rest was the vocalist. :D For the drums, I used EZ Drummer. I use this for all songs I write. It's one of my favorite toys.

I use a Digi 002 Rack w/PT LE 7

Ah....so that's what you sing there...I thought you were singing 'I'm gonna drift out into empty space' LOL.
I didn't think you were too keen on that bit as you've never commented on it before. Ok, I'll bring that back in.

Oh yeh...i like that bit, although I havent figured out how to reproduce it on my mix yet. I take inspiration from all mixers here. What not to do and what sounds good and works after a time of incubation. I really can't expect to do a good mix in one session. I've got a whole list to do, even after producing my first mix here. I'm planning to re-record guitar and some other bits.

I hacked a drum groove over the top of your snare. Sounds good to me.
Let me know what you think.
