joeydego said:is it a live snare? Love the guitar counterpoint in the pre chorus. Very catchy, sounds like a dual rectofier? Acoustic direct? Great mix. Home studio? If it is, your "in over your head"A+ very very good.
aberyClark said:Excellent production...Great stereo landscape...very live feel. The drums are the only thing I would change...but, they are acceptable as they are. To me, and I'm a drummer..so pardon my bias, the kit does not sound like it flows together. Again, this is just my personal preference...The track sounds fine as it is. The bass/kick/tom relationship in sound seems a bit awkward. Basically they sound like they were recorded seperate. The drumming seems a bit forced (maybe the timing issue discussed earlier). But, the cymbals have a nice overall blend. I like the drums sounding like it was recorded with 2 overhead mics. You did an excellent job on this track....very Gin Blossems, counting crows. Sounds like a big budget production to me. Post some more tracks
aberyClark said:That could be it. Listening again...it seems the drums are a tad (very tad) bit ahead of the rest of the band (out in front of beat). Maybe the drums got nudged a bit while editing. I really can't put my finger on it....but to be honest...most (meaning 99.9%) of listeners will not notice. Really the drums sounded more pleasing the second time around. I have to say...this is a very good sounding track. The problem with my mixes (I do mostly electronic instrumentals...with god forbit...drum loops/patterns...I can't record live drums now...I live in a condo)..I always go back and hear something wrong everytime. nobody else hears it but me.....I now have to force myself just walk away after the a while. My latest track...I've done over 50 mixdowns and burn to CD to listen on my various systems. It's always something. It's really sickning. Anyway..If I were getting paid by the hour...I could probably walk away much sooner. My goal on the next track is to keep the mixdowns down to under 5.
