I've fininshed recording all my tracks in a project I am currently on. I track in Samplitude and then take the waves over to soundforge 5.0. My question is with the drum tracks. I have 7 mics on my set. The track I am working on is the Hi hat. In the process of recording, the mic on the hi hat also picked up the other elements of the drumset. I am trying to eliminate the snare. What would be the best way to cut out the frequency of the snare? I know how to find the frequency of it, I just don't know what to do from there. Any suggestions?

noise gate?

did you try to add a noise gate to it ? I am unsure of the frequencies that would remove a snare, a snare can be extremely high ended and extremely bass-y as well, but I generally use a gate to remove the snare unless it is just too damn loud, then I just leave it and call it ambience ,hahahahahahahah.....

Use a highpass filter to eliminate the low end like the kick and other rumble.
Find the freq of excesive snare (look around 200-300Hz) and cut there using your EQ.

Also use a gate to cut the hihat out of the snare. This will give you better defenition (as in defining its place in the mix) of the hihat as it wont be spread all over the place comming from the snare mic (leaskage) AND the hihat mic.
