Hello everyone,
I am wondering if there exists a DAW or other software that includes allows the user to alter the TEMPO ENVELOPE of a clip of audio and/or midi in a flexible, freeform manner (in the same way many programs allow the user to alter the VOLUME ENVELOPE - pulling a pushing a line representing the dynamic level, giving the dynamics a freeform shape)?

I just got Adobe Audition 2.0 (software) and, although I have not experimented with time stretching and tempo yet, it does indeed have tempo envelopes for midi files. As far as time stretching for recorded sound clips, it looks like that is a little more manual. If you highlight any portion of the clip, in edit view or multitrack view, you can bring up a time stretch window and tweak the numbers.

You can download a fully working 30 day demo for free and try it yourself.
