In the FWIW dept: this free soft-theremin is a stitch. It's a tiny download (605k) at:

Just hit the start button (but only once! You'll hear why if you click on it twice), then click and drag. Controls make sense after just a little experimenting. Records easily to any of my recording software--Sonar, SoundForge, Audacity, etc.

Perfect for my kids' stuff and comedy projects. I'm messing with porting it through some guitar effects too, for even more laughs.

Finally, brethren, I thought this was a hoot. Theremin-bra video:
