have been browsing this site for awhile now but the moment I came across this site my jaw dropped in envy, especially, when a soundcard is for sale. I have been studying and reseaching soundcard over the net but the only one I got is the onboard card built in the motherboard.

I am from the third world where nice soundcard is not available locally and if there is any it will be very expensive. I dream of building a home studio where I could record with my family and friends.

To make this short, I am asking to anyone who has a nice card but don't used them anymore to please email me....

I am just wondering... If you can have access to a computer, why can't you get a nice soundcard by ordering it on ebay or on any other virtual music shop...

The problem is buying over the net requires debit/credit card that is issued only to those who can afford to pay it. The worse thing is I don't have the money either. So I think my dream studio would remain a dream.. thanks for the reply

I wish I had something worth offering.
All I have is some old "soundblaster live" cards and a "Soundblaster AWE 32", none of which would probably be an upgrade to what you have.

Tough tittie, Rakan.

Why don't you get a freakin' job or something like the rest of us?

I don't have any sympathy, just because you're from a third-world country and you dream of one day recording the sound of your goat choire. You want things in life, you either have to earn them, or provide something of equal value in exchange. That's the sad, unfortunate reality of our world, today, which you seem to be having trouble coming to grips with.

Now why don't you send me your prettiest sister and a block of cheese, and I'll consider flying my pigeon messenger over with my finest soundblaster card tied to his feet.

Why, because he WORKS for a living? I was a little put off by the OP's pathetic request too.

You can post a message on the internet with your computer, but you can't afford a soundcard?

Yea, right.

the views in this post are of the author only and not intended to express the views of the owner of this BBS......

yeah its kinda lame to come to a BBS and ask for a free soundcard so yeah that opens you up for some "get a job" comments......

"Now why don't you send me your prettiest sister and a block of cheese, and I'll consider flying my pigeon messenger over with my finest soundblaster card tied to his feet."

thats 10 times as lame......

To everybody,

Sorry for causing any trouble. Cheeserock, yes I got a job but buying a nice soundcard would cause me more than 4 months of my salary. Third world... you know what I mean. Sorry my sister was already taken and they are now in the states but like you "free things" are not in their vocabulary.

To tnjazz, the reason why I have afforded to post this message is I stole my company's time and their internet access. But I don't want to steal their soundcard.

To those who symphatized with me.... thanks a lot

Rakan, just use the onboard sound. It's not that bad. Really. Maybe it only gives you 14bit (84dB) dynamic range, that's OK. Many of us started with crappy 4-track tape recorders that gave us 40dB dynamic range on a good day, during a waning moon at low tide in the springtime. It's still music man, just record it.

...am I the only one here who finds this all a bit suspicious?..."Third World"?...how about a geographic location...4 months of your salary?...hmmm...

Thanks for the advice.. am really satisfied with onboard sound for my recording but I forgot to mention that i'm also using my computer as live mixer during jam sessions.. a kind of hosting parties of my friends (using my place and my computer as videokee and sound system for free food). The latency really is very annoying even with "asio4all" driver. and I believe that upgrading to soundcard would solve this problem.

I have a digi 002 that I dont want, But you have to come to my house and get it.

kidvybes, am from Philippines in Mindanao. am earning PhP 8,000 a month minus tax and insurance and contributions that would be PhP 5,000 (less than $100) net take home. sorry for the '4 months' overstatement but i have to consider our food and monthly bills.

Sounds like a good time to me, I'm in.

Just a question. If you can't afford a soundcard, how can you afford a microphone?

nice question, in fact I don't have one but a good friend of mine would always let me borrow his shure (Taiwan, I think) microphone. It's one of my wish list....
