Inspector from Elemental Audio is free. Digi started giving away some of the Bomb Factory stuff and Amplitube to registered users awhile back. That's about all I know of.

ha!
there ARE some....but not as many as there are VST ones. I was going to post this in the PT forum but we're having issues with the server, so I guess I can post it here. I just found a bunch of free ones from Cycling '74. It's called Pluggo Jr. and they are a few free ones from the larger Pluggo Bundle: http://www.cycling74.com/products/dlpluggo.html
You'll also need the Pluggo RunTime software to use them. Some nice plugins if you're interested in Sound design or just messing with weird stuff. Also includes a reverb and a chorus plugin....and a bunch of filters. Probably around 10 plugins all together.

Izotope has the Vinyl plugin
Elemental Audio has the Inspector
Nomad Audio has a phaser, sweeper and tremolo:

Digi has the Bomb Factory ones on their site.
EQ III was just released by Digi too.
And there are some Mac versions out and about....including some Vintage VU meters from http://www.pspaudioware.com/

hope that gives you a start. I'll repost all that once we get the forum back up.

Cool. Was wondering about the forum as well. Good info all around.

Ok, guys. I know nothing about Pro-tools,so sorry to butt in. Does it not use VST, or DX stuff? Is everything native to just Pro-tools? Just reading this, and was wondering, so thought I'd ask. Is it designed for Mac, or is it also Windows compatible?

Thanks.
Ed

yeah what TimboZ said.
Pro Tools uses RTAS, Audio Suite, TDM and HTDM plugins.
you can get the VST wrapper which is like $70 to use VST plugins. Some VST plugs though use up a lot of CPU power via the wrapper though...and some just plain are unstable. But there are a ton out there which do work too.

Pro Tools works on both Windows and Mac as well.
