It was right generous and thoughtful for Russ to offer his tape to us for free. :)

And equally generous, and informed, the attitude of A Reel Person to recording technology, no matter what it is.

In the end, ideally the message should transcend the medium.

Anyway,... it couldn't have gone to a more deserving person!!! ;)

Many times, when days and weeks pass and minds cool off a bit, especially from some of the heated exchanges on this forum, one can see things in a more uncolored way. In this light, I'd like to tip my hat to Dave (A Reel Person) for a most thoughtful reply. I too will check out anti's MySpace site and I do wish him the very best now and in the future. Visit us anytime Russell! ;)

I'll admit I was disappointed when 'spat "went digital".

I was up on that from the very first post.

I thought anti' had great fortitude about getting into analog, & he made great progress, but I also thought that with the situation, he was in over his head. I also noticed when he asked for advice, he got it, then often proceeded to ignore it. Then after a few hours of T & E, he came back to the forum saying, [para] "eh,... yeah, you're right".

So, it was an interesting situation with lil'spat and his analog efforts and woes, and all the help that board members tried to give. I definitely think it was the equipment he set out with, and not his lack of effort or technical ability that was the demise of this situation. Anyway, 'spat's a major deal maker, so he came out ahead selling the old gear & got something that would work right outta the box. There's nothing wrong with that.

So cheers for antispatula. He's recording tracks and he has the better part of life ahead of him./DA

PS: I can't see myself ever giving up analog, but I am not a digital hater. I have several different flavors of recording hardware and software, and I use it for the utility it offers me, in my primarily analog world. I see great uses for digital recording, mostly for it's flashy editing. I find digital transparent enough to faithfully convey the sound of analog tape, in an analog>digital dub. Also feel I can get a good/faithful recording going direct-to-digital, using my existing equipment. I have a variety of stuff to work with that I've collected over many years, but nothing too new or cutting edge. I'd hate to quote my gear list, but it's nearly endless and neither one of us has the time! As always, YMMV!
