I just received notice from CDBaby, who I use for online distribution, that they delivered my albums to an online distributor called "Amie Street" who has sort of a unique business model ... they offer the songs initially for free.

I figured that I'd let folks here know that they can evidently download the music from there for absolutely no charge.

Here's the links:

Long Days Passing Fast

Retrospectful

Just a heads up for anyone here wanting a high quality free download of my two releases.

Get 'em while they're hot (and free)!

Has anyone attempted to d/l?

Does the site require signup prior to allowing the free download?

Maybe I should try ... doh ...

:D

Hi Kev, I downloaded without issue (both albums).....I did have to sign up/register tho'...but only took a second....d/l was quite fast for me as well(zip files)
Sounds great...thanks for sharing!

You're very welcome, bud, and thanks for the info!

I guess what I was looking at when I didn't think any d/l's were occurring was the "rec" column ... which I originally took as a d/l counter. It's not.

I think the "listens" are the downloads.

I played w/ it a bit and "rec" is the "recommend" counter -- which indicates which songs, I suppose, come "recommended" to other listeners.

When I hit the "rec" button, a new window popped which says that the site rewards folks who recommend songs if their recommendations become popular.

The concept, evidently, is to encourage visitors to listen and refer.

Additional info:

Non-U.S. folks may have trouble downloading ...

Good point, Mike.

For those unfamiliar desiring a listen first:

Long Days Passing Fast

Retrospectful

A player should pop open in a new window, so be sure your browser is set to allow pop ups.

Once the load begins, you can choose/sample any song in any order by clicking on the song title in the album list.

I just visited the above site again, and "Retrospectful" is still absolutely free, while "Long Days Passing Fast" has gone up to all of $1.95 in price ... or 15 cents per song.

Not to worry -- for I've a free $5 coupon available -- provided by the site:

FREE COUPON

Just sign up, use the coupon code at check out, and ...

I just realized the beauty of this marketing model ... and why this new site is doing what its doing.

The beauty is everything still comes ABSOLUTELY FREE to folks here!

But the site begins to pay me for the downloads!

And the benefit to the site is that they get a broad exposure.

It's a win-win -- all the way around. Free music for the listener, artist gets paid, new site gets exposure.

If folks could continue to visit -- and use the coupon. I TRULY appreciate the support.

THANKS!

Respectful downloaded just fine, I had a bit of trouble with the Long Days passing fast--it turned out to be a copy of Respectful also. Probably my error along the way I'm sure.
Got them both now, cool tunes, thanks a lot!

Thanks for the info A -- and you're very welcome!

Is anyone else experiencing similar difficulty w/ the d/l?

Best,

Kev-

This is odd ...

"Long Days Passing Fast" has had two jumps in price since the start of the all this, and registers 22 listens and 80 "views".

"Retrospectful" is dead in the water ... well, not dead -- it's had 58 "views" and 18 listens ... but it's still absolutely free.

I feel bad for the album ... and it's weird because I frankly think it's better produced (I knew more about production on the second comparitively to the first when I made it) and has really good stuff on it -- some of my favorite pieces --

But there it languishes ... still awaiting it's first price point ... maybe it'll never grow up and get a job. :D

Maybe it's the download troublem mentioned above? Did anyone here download it successfully?

Kev-

I'm in the UK, great sounding tunes on both albums....they stream perfectly here but I don't see a download option.

Maybe I'm missing something

again, quality sounds great for streaming ;)

Weird ...

A friend from Sweden couldn't get them to do anything ... stream or download ... and was told (essentially), "Sorry, not available to non-U.S. folks".

Yet, you can stream, but not d/l.

Are you seeing this screen shot?

Are the download buttons there?

I had to sign up got it sorted and thanks for turning me onto the site. I got ma tunes up there now too www.aimestreet.com/rally

I'll link to you and REC your tunes

Cheers,

Alex

<EDIT>

Now I'm a member I can't even listen to your tunes. I was gonna buy your album as thanks for turning me on to the site but it's "not available in the UK"

Sorry about that

And still ... after 31 "listens" ... and I would assume at least as many downloads as "LPDF" clicked -- prior to logging its for price level ... Retrospectful remains free ...

LDPF has 35 listens total ...

Hmmm ...

Methinks something is not right ...

You write and record great music, Kevin.

The problem is that there aren't too many people here who are interested enough to take time out to download and listen to it.

I suggest that you upload your music at http://www.imusicscene.com/

I do admit that posting there could be just as short lived as posting there, here, or anywhere else for that matter on the interwebs.
