I have a 2005 American Strat. It already has some scratchs and chipped paint from my belt buckle....any comments or suggestions for other improvments? Also, some referances and pictures would be great...

How am I suupposed to make any money if I just give my whole plan away?

Understood....but I still think its fair for me to ask for referances and pictures of previous projects.

ok, but I will black-out all the tools and any reference to famous people in the pictures.

All you will see is maybe a "before and after" of the recording device or instrument.

I have Paypal, so I can accept credit card payments just like the big named corporations.

nomo GC

FINALLY! No more having to go to guitar center for this!

FINALLY!!! That vintage Behringer sound that I've been desperately craving. I just Paypal'ed you $9000--now mod my Autocom into sweet beaten warmthiness!!

Info on how to "relic" a guitar is pretty much all over the internet, it's no secret...

http://www.pbase.com/jroy/relicdemo

More stuff...

http://forums.birdsandmoons.com/forum/printthread.php?t=15876&pp=40

Lots of excellent info about refinishing guitars here...

http://www.projectguitar.com/tut/tutorial5.htm

That took me less than 1 minute of searching on Google.

I like the first link where the guy used the car key from his pickup truck as a "special tool" to relic a Strat. :p:p:p

Sorry, but we're mostly a bunch of older technical-type "recording geeks" on this website, with a higher I.Q. than the average guitar player. We pretty much try to do everything for free or as cheap as possible around here. You'd probably be better off on Harmony Central where thousands of 13 to 16-year-olds who have parents with big $$ to spend hang out. Seriously.

"The more the merrier" is one of my moto's! Bring on the competition!!

I'll take the bait....
here you go, against my better business judgement....
Secret #1:
some of these guys use a special chlorinated process to corrode the metal parts.
I actually leave the equipment outside in the rain and allow the natural corrosion process to take hold.

Flashback to a Led Zepplin concert if you can.
Picture a real roadie leaving the gear in the heavy England rain, in 1974...
think WHOLE LOTTA LOVE!! man.
the real corroded shit!!

Let's say that you want your Les Paul to "look" like it was run over by a 1987 Ford Taurus. How would you go about doing this?

:D

Dropping a truckload of bowling balls on the guitar will achieve that look.

Relic'ing is about acheiving a beat up look by a quick, phoney process other than actual aging and beating up the guitar over a period of several years of use.

Man, if it ever becomes fashionable to walk around looking all beat up with a broken nose and black eyes I know a couple of guys named Vinnie and Guido who are gonna make a fortune!!! :D:D

I would say just run over it with an 87 Ford Taurus but it might be hard to find one of those running......

ok so everyone thinks it's that easy and a joke, but I'm telling you its actually a very highly respected art form.

some people pay onwads of $10,000+ dollars for this "art".

if you weren't joking about the bowling balls, well.... I apologize.

I truly believe that old saying

"Art has no rules and no rules means anything."

It's true, but for an addition $50, he'll push it over it thus achieving the same effect.
