Hey guys, i was google browsing for a issue i'm having that i'm not getting any help from on the presonus forums.

I have a Sony Vaio laptop, quick stats are as follows

i7 processor, 4gig ddr3 ram, 330m nvidia card 1gig, windows 7

My FP10 when connected to the 4 pin firewire port on my laptop to the number 1 firewire port on the FP10 will intermittently jump from blue to red on the connection indicator LED. After several mins of this it will final give me a window that says the firepod has failed to initialize, asks if i would like to try again or cancel.

Sometimes i can record for a few mins without problems, other times it disconnects and re connects several times a minute.

I also ran the Optimizing windows instructions found at presonus.com

if anyone has some ideas i would really appreciate the input.

What firewire chipset?
(you can find out in the device manager)

You really only want TexasInstruments chips on an audio or video computer.

here is some info i hope this provides you with a answer to your question.

IEEE 1394 bus host controller
Ricoh 1394 OHCI compliant Host controller
Device type: IEEE 1394 Bus Host controller
Manufacturer: Ricoh
Location: PCI bus3, device 0, function 3

This device is working properly

this must be a really nasty gremlin because no one at presonus, microsoft, or sony can figure this out. While i must say that all of these companies are being very friendly and helpful, nothing has fixed this issue yet.

=(

Ricoh is notorious for problems with audio/video interfaces.

ONLY Texas Instruments firewire chipsets are recommended.

If you have a PCMCIA or Expresscard slot, try getting a Belkin or SIIG card with TI chips.
