g'day anbody used one of these machines, or has owned one you could tell me more about them, are they any good sound wise and are they hard to work on if they die. in two minds stay in analog 8 track or go dig?
I used to work for a repair service. http://www.electrofix.com/frontpage.htm
Try emailing Graham, they are registered a Fostex repair service and specialists in Multi trackers particularly analogue equipment. He will certainly know of any particular issues with the R8 and may have some re-conditioned equipment
You could contact the Fostex distributors for information..........Syntech, Ph; 02 94174700. Also, if you are after an owners or service manual, try contacting High Country Service Data at Cooma, email addy; NANCY@hcsd.com.au.
Ive had one for over ten years,no problems at all.
I did lots of recording on it and it has never broken down.
Here is a link to some recordings all done on the R8 and then mastered on my computer.
