This is great KC. I'm impressed how full and rich those little boxes sound - reminds me of that last aphex twin album a bit where he went back to the analogue synthy sound.

I've been toying with the idea of getting the volca beats box for a while to get some glitchy beats and weird sounds, but from what you've posted and from the demo vid on the Korg site, it sounds like the volca sample might be a better one to get initially at least. I liked how he made kick, hi hats and melody out of just one piano sample. What do you think?

I see Korg have also opened their stuff up to third parties to develop their own editor software too, which is cool as the official app is only for apple products.

Anyway, back to your piece. Great to hear something new from you and hope all goes well with the arrival of yer new bairn :D

Hey Rob, thanks for the listen man

the beats is great for what it is, the snare is unusable though, it really lest it down. The Sample is an amazing piece of kit, it really is...I dont know anyone who hasnt bought who hasnt said "holy shit".

The on board samples are very good but I dumped them immediately and installed some samples I made from my machinedrum, some from Goldbaby, and some from Wave Alchemy's Synth Drums...its a serious piece of kit with these.

nearly all the paremetrs are able to be automated, either across the whole track via motion sequencing, or by step input..its fiddly, a little lo fi, but brilliant.

I think I may buy a second one.

"Caustic" is the best for entering samples, it works on PC, Mac, Android, and IOS...it has some editing features and FX, and a small synth..its also free!

there going to be an ultra powerful librarian from SampleRobot, but it will cost $59

Gee, you're an expensive bastard. You just cost me $150 at a time when I'm saving up for a good guitar. :guitar:

If you dont like it Ill buy it off you lol

This sounds really great. Excellent vibe. Very thick. I don't think it is dark or heavy in the low end. I think it is just where it should be.

Composing with instruments such as these always blows my mind, as a simple minded guitar player. I don't understand how this is done. I am very impressed.

Thx man, I knew it was ballpark...I have a very decent set up but Im forbidden, by myself, to use it...this is all about limitations. These things are a little fiddly but you can squeeze good sounds out of them.

Sequencing seems a little daunting to synth virgins, but Ive heard plenty of synth guys that find guitar playing just as daunting...Im lucky enough to have my foot in both camps, though my guitar playing is a bit DJ LeadPaw :D

You need an i-device for getting samples from elsewhere, right? How does that work?

If you do buy it and want some decent drum samples Ive already resampled an Acidlab Miami and Vermona DRM to 32/16...I need to convert my Machindrum samples next...be happy to share

Ah, cool - thanks for the kind offer as well. If I get one (and it looks like it's a done deal) I'll take you up on it - I know next to nothing about samples and sampling.

VERY cool KC.
Dark for dark work.
I like everything about it - man you're ruining my rockist stance & posturing!!!!!
You sing rather well in my opinion and one day you'll complete or re post THAT song & I'll rejoice in the song, the synths, the guitar AND your singing.
When you've finished this current tune would you make it downloadable?
I want to impress my class again.

Hey Ray, thanks for the listen bud

Im thinking we're going to buy a big place later this year and Im going to build a proper studio with a vocal booth....then do more instrumentals lol

I was happy with my singing for what it was until that tune and everyone said I was out of tune, but I couldnt hear it, no matter how many times I listened, time to stop :D

I love this, KC. I'd forgot how awesome electronic music can sound. You're excellent at it.

The mix sound good to me. I've never listened to much techno trance music, so honestly I don't know how it stacks up. I liked it. There was a groove going and the low end sounded nice and solid. It had some creative musical ideas. I didn't here anything that sounded bad.
Nice job kcearl

cheers Jimi...normally I work with over $5k worth of synths, so getting this sound from $600 is pretty gratifying

---------- Update ----------

You can't escape. Check your PMs.

lol gotcha :thumbs up:

I thought it sounded cool.

I think the kick might be just a bit loud, even for the genre. The low bass pad might be a bit rumbly. But you trance guys always get a break with "overdoing it" on the low end. :)

(BTW of nothing at all, Trojka's re-mixed a tune that you sang on years ago. RP Listening Room. :thumbs up:)

Oh that surf thing? I remember that - it was a long time ago. I remember snail-mailing a CD to Tjarko. :) I'll go check it out. It was fun.

I might be overdoing it...at 93bpm its not really meant to sound like a dance track...but Ive maybe mixed it so out of habit. Im going to give it another tweak soon anyway.thx

Not sure what the etiquette is on this, but I'll post it here.

I had fun with this. If you want it better, I'll do that.

Youre a quirky dude...glad you had fun, youre right about your idea fitting in with the Jim Jones sample ;)

it does sound like your vocals are sitting on top of an mp3 though, the track isnt even as clear as my soundcloud page track (where its downsampled anyway I think)...Ill try to send you an unmastered wave when I get back home then youll be able to make the vox lie in the track better...or send me the vocals and Ill stick them in the mix :thumbs up:
