Hi.
I recently got an R8, this is my first reel to reel. If it turns out working I have to pay a little.
I cleaned the heads and recorded few tracks, everything seems fine. Less hiss that I expected. There was quite a bit of mechanical noise,maybe because it's been unused for years. I don't know how much noise is accebtable?
I'm just wondering if the capstan works like it should. When I switch the power on, it starts spinning. Is this normal?
