Hello,
Just joined the forum and I'm hoping to find answers for two questions. I have a FR-2 recorder and I'm looking for external battery options. Would love to get 6+ hours out of a small (camcorder-like) battery. Can anyone recommend an option...wiring advice appreciate too! Second question is how to connect the unit with a Mackie mixing board (CR1604) for recording. The board has RCA 'tape out' jacks. Thanks in advance for any help!

Power supply: DC 12V
eight AA-type alkaline/Ni-Cd/Ni-HM batteries
or AC adaptor AD12-1300 (option, DC 12V)
Power consumption: approximately 5.7~10W
Battery life (for continuous use): approximately 2 hours 30 minutes (using "2300 mAh" Ni-HM batteries)

This is from the Users Manual so, I suggest that any stable 12v supply should do. I would doubt that a camcorder battery would have the capacity but a 12v camcorder power supply pack might.

I would go with a couple of rechargable gel type batteries as used in alarms, torches etc. Radio Shack USA or Maplin UK would supply all the required bits.

Again for the connections to the Mackie board, you will probably get the required patch leads from RS/Maplin. Treat the inputs as Line level.
