Hi,
Does anyone here have and have done repairs to a Fostex Model E2 reel to reel? I found this E2 in very good condition, very cheap too, with one caveat, one of the reel motor's metal shaft snapped. I can't find any restoration video on this exact model. According to google, I would need to replace the entire motor, luckily I do find a replacement motor for the E2 and it is still in stock.
I also found the service manual and took a look at it and I saw it has some kind of extender (part no.6)? Does the metal shaft get extended by this part, because the motor itself too has its own shaft. The replacement motor I saw doesn't seem to have that long of a shaft, hence my suspicion.
I'm also sorry beforehand if I sound inexperienced, this my first time acquiring vintage gear.
