Hello folks

I havd been using a DMT8 for years. The DAT machine I use for data backup has now died. I am looking to use a freestanding CD-R in place of the DAT, but from what I can gather, some CD - Rs are compatibleand some are not. Does anyone have experience, good or bad,of trying to match a CD - R with a DMT8?
(Please note my machine is an early model (version 2) which doesn't have the benefit of SCSI.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Andy,
Hope this helps. I use an FD-8 that has optical in/out. Not sure if the DMT does or not, but I bought a TDK dual CDR/RW standalone recorder. Got a TOSlink optical cord. Set the FD-8 to SPDIF in the slave mode and the digital out as L] R] and it works fine. Another poster on this site helped me out. The only difference is you set it to SPDIF instead of ADAT and you can mix down 8 tracks to stereo at once.
