someone mentioned the iphone the other day in the cave and I was noticing that the music applications are getting reviews in CM mag...thought they might just be toys, maybe they are or maybe they're not...anyway this NY duo have just released the first album completely made on an iphone with no other hardware..pretty impressive i think..here's the tunes

Go ahead and plug an SSL into that, then we're talking :D

It's probably recorded through fairly decent outboard gear into a device that holds wave files...unless the music absolutley sucks it will sound okay. My computer does the same thing but also has Office 2007 on it lol....I can also use it to make phone calls through SKYPE. In other words no big deal...Iphone cost WAY more than my computer on a monthly basis too...

And no, we're not an Apple or Intua street team disguised as a music duo, we're a music duo disguised as male escorts for librarians.
:D :D :D
Priceless!

Sounds like real bad 80's new wave...
Actually I think it sounds pretty cool. But I'm listening on laptop speakers. I'll check this out at home too.

I like the minimal techno stuff. "Creamatorium" has a certain "broken instrument" vibe to it, that they pull off rather nicely too.

Meh, plus it has no geetars or vox in it, which is ALWAYS a plus in my book. :D :p

of course..I like gadgets but after three broken Ipods apples not top of my list..its the fact of the portability that I find most intriguing and this is just one application...there are a load of pretty interesting ones out there for about $5 a pop

I do a fair amount of travelling and my laptops done after about an hour or so..this would be great..Ive used the Idrum and its very usable..in fact once you program your sequence you just load it onto the PC and stick any samples in you feel like..coolio :)

so I take it you're not impressed then ;)

hell I like bad 80s new wave...that's why I was impressed

lol

You know those plastic music-making kids toys they roll out every Christmas season....
....I think those guys must have used at least a few in making that muzak. ;)

Just a lot of bleeps and boings.

I got a wind chime that makes better random music! :D

star gazer, shoe gazer...whats the other genre, midrift gazer? :)

beatle lovin philistine :)

You stargazer.... :p
Man, don't even get me started on stargazing :p
It's too bad I live in a city like LA where there is so much air and light pollution that you'll be lucky to see Orion.

What can I say? I am a hopeless romantic :D

hey were gonna be neighbours soon...maybe we can swap ozrick tentacles albums ;)

Hey man, that sounds good :) Although I am not sure why any sane person would want to move out of Toronto. It's a beautiful city. I have a grandmother and two uncles living there, and I visit them from time to time.

Plus you got better healthcare than we do down here. Although the winters... brrrrrrr :D

Everything I heard on that link, no matter how it started out, eventually sounded like the soundtrack to Frogger.

I actually have used the "Voice Memos" recording app to capture my kiddos playing banjo and singing in the back seat of my truck...You know, like true Texans, lol.

I should send that recording to Steve Jobs and then make him pay me for it somehow. This will require some planning.....

The shine is starting to come off the Apple a bit when it comes to the iPhone as a development platform.

It also doesn't help that AppleJobs is keeping that proprietary Apple-only philosophy by offering a development platform for the iPhone that only works on Apple PCs. I was actually considering writing some audio-related apps for the iPhone, but discovered that I'd automatically start several hundred dollars in the hole jut by a) signing up to become an iPod developer, which is not free, and 2) having to buy an Apple netbook at the very least, just to be able to write an app.

A couple of friends have shared their iPhone recordings. Not bad for noodling. No bottom end at all.
