we don't need rest!!
have you ever seen a old vox super beatle, complete with stand, in the last 15 years?? I think they all disappeared...

and....how about a Fender super showman...big tall sucker....you know the solid state rascal that came out.

and those Standell power towers ....they've all gone to amp heaven, it seems

you see the old oranges, and stuff like that, but there's a big void in ampland out there.

How about "Sound Citys"..You dont see them anymore too..Oranges seem to have gone thru the roof on what they cost!Little single 12, 30 watt Gretch amps..I miss those things ..$50.00 and they were great little amps..Those Vox's used to be cheap!Someones got them all locked away LOL..Blackface Fender Bandmasters/Bassmen heads with cabs used to be more plentiful also..What about those Lab Series amps like the L5 you dont see them at all anymore......

Don

Yeah...I think the Fender stuff is pretty easy to find...especially if you have the money...

sound citys...a little harder...british stuff..ya know??

you see those old kustom crapola ones around here in Kentucky at garage sales...!

I'm the oldest and the fartiest.

Hell yeah! I seen 'em!

Ya Fender stuff has gone thru the roof...White tolex "presents knob" Bassmens are going for 12 or 13 hundred bucks..Kustom stuff was/is crap but someones gonna pay thru the nose because its "Vintage" tuck n' roll..The old Traynor stuff was cool I never see any of that..Remember EMC amps? And SG systems amps ..I think they were made by Norland{Gibson} you wont see many of those{they weren't that good}..Burns of London ,I think they were called the Bison, cool lil amp for cheap {used} back in the 70s..Funny old fart stuff ..Remember when 70s Strats and Les Pauls were sh*t..when the quality control really sucked..Now those "cow leg" Strats are worth "stupid" money ..And Ibanaz made only copy guits..Memorys.. skippin school to go to the music store..LOL

har!! I remember that....and it took me a long time to get away from that thinking...with still a little bit of it stuck in the back of my memory banks, continually effecting present thought patterns.

One of there copys is a very cool guit..Prob. worth some good cash..The Flying V ..excellent guitar! One good hard to find guit is The Hagstrom Swede{Les Paul kinda thing}..Coil taps on the top and bottom bouts..No master volumes no hot pickups{did the DiMarzio's come out about 74}..We used to buy those Electro Harmonics LPB1 power boosters to drive the front end of our amps{20 bucks}LOL

you laugh...put that sucker on Ebay and watch the price go crazy...

I sold an original fuzzface for $315 bucks with one of the two knobs missing too. I'm not a sucker for that [kinda]old stuff anymore, and I freaked when I got 40 emails for pics of the insides. I personally never really liked it, and preferred the 300 smackers.

so...you think the Ibanez Vs are pretty decent eh?? I had a mid+ 60's (67?) Gibson V with a clear pickguard(showing the electronics in it) WITH the Gibson vibrola, which I just loved...cool handle...
But, anyway,...it was relieved from my possession one night, when I was gone....and I'd like to get another one someday...They're just fun guitars...and the Ibanez would do for me now....(maybe...wink!)

On the good side, to that story..if you're still listening...I bought my first 4 track recorder with it...a teac 3340, with the insurance money my Dad gave me, which he said was covered by his homeowners at the time. Looking back, I spent $300 for it when I got it...and his deductable was probably $250, and they weren't so in demand back then....so...thx Dad...I now know...!!

The Super Showmans were crap, when they came out I looked into them as a replacement for my Super Reverb but wisely backed off. The sales pitch was; 'Hendrix plays through them'. Well if he did, he drove the cabs through a showman linked to a bunch of Crowns.

The first transistor amps that sounded good to me back then were Baldwins. A couple of guys out of the Carpenters were neighbors and since the group endorsed Baldwins I had a chance to play around with them. They had a really rich sound. Don't know what became of them, they only made amps a short while, transducers too, in fact I think Willie Nelson still uses their old pickup.

yeah..the super showmans where lousy....never sold or took off, if I remember. They just looked cool, and were BIGGER than the dual showmans at the time...which WAS the attraction then...the bigger the amp...the better it must be. I just have never seen another once since the year they came out...so what....30 years now?? ..never seen a used one...just the new one in the store. And come to think of it....I never saw one used in a live situation either.

The Baldwins, I remember too. Big suckers too...one of them was about the size of the showman 2 x15 cabinet...had the amp controls on top, and they were push button too...I think...all different colors.

I remember the Acoustic 150 I bought too...took it back the next day. Dang thing wouldn't overdrive.... The 370 was popular for bass, so the 150 figured to be good for guitar. Seems to me, Harvey Gerst said he had something to do with its design.

The Doors used all acoustic amps too...really spiffy looking backdrop...

Sunn collesiums......(ahhhh....the premier OUTDOORs amp!)

it's late...just rambling...reflecting...

there used to be a cheap line of tube amps back in the 70's that didn't have alot of output but sounded real good...holmes blues amps ...or something like that...don't see them anymore either

I used to have a Standell Acoustic amp, an Ampeg VT40, a Toby guitar amp with eight speakers in the cabinet (..all of them were 8 inch speakers), a Marshall Half-Stack w/100 watt head, Fender Twin, a Crate amp that looked like a wooden crate (one of the first models), and a few others that I can't even remember right now.

Anybody remember those amps that had padded sections on the sides (both the head and speaker cabinet) with that sparkley plastic-vinyl stuff?
My old bass player used to have one for years!

I remember when EVERYONE had a Pignose amp.

How about Hiwatt amps?
Pete Townshend used them exclusively.

Hey mix, I've still got two pieces of Heil gear laying around the basement, a graphic EQ and a crossover. Not amps but VERY vintage.:D

Man I remember those original Crate amps ..I wonder if they are worth anything..Oh you reminded me Crate also made tuck n' roll!
Hi Watt amps come to think of it I havent seen them around much anymore..Great amps!
Wow remember when the Acoustic 360 was the standard bass rig!I saw Humble Pie and the bass player had one on each side of the drummer..
Those Baldwins are the same company that made Burns of London..Cool amp..They also made a guitar {thats the guit that B. May got his pickups from for his "Red Special"}Nice guit..
Sunn Collesiums..I remember I had a freind that had one of those ,The beast was loaded with JBL's..
Mixmkr..Sorry to hear about your V..I think the Ibanez{74} is prob. pretty expensive..I remember when I got mine I think I paid about 300.00 new..Johnny Thunders from the N.Y.Dolls was on the Ibanez poster at the local music store.LOL..
I was also releived of a guit and amp once..Someone got my 50 watt Marshall {70}head and a B.C. Rich Seagull{74} {same model guit that Steve Hunter used on Rock and Roll Animal}Thing would be worth sick money now.. cool guit had Guild hum. pups..This was back when they made the B.C.Rich's by hand..I repaced them with a Mesa Mark1 and Les Paul Standard..I got my first home recording setup in the 80's.. one of those Yamaha 4 track machines with a separate board and patchbay .I remember you had put a sticker on the cassett so it could "read" the tape .LOL Anyone remember the Acoustic amp that was like a Boogie..

Ha, I use to play thru a Fender Super 6, the one with 6 - 10" speakers, a LPB-1 and a purple Foxtone with my '72 Strat!

The Strat ($350) was my first guitar and the dealer sold me a VOX Beatles Bass Amp ($200) to play thru, I didn't know the different than. I ended up later selling the VOX, years later, for $800. I still have the Strat, I now have Cyber-Twin!!

Track....I used to have a pile of old Heil gear... I still have a big old pair of passive crossovers for PA use, in my junk gear box, however..

bob mackie would have been proud of all the 6000b tapcos for sale that filtered thru his store.

remember that huge pile of white fender stuff he used to have in the middle of his store out in marissa?...and NOT for sale....when black faced stuff was current, and bob thought the old white tolex stuff would become collectors stuff....hhhmm what a riot. He had some groups use his stuff, ......eh?

whatever happened to silver strings music...?

and what ever happened to the guy named Gene...in his three piece group(s), always called Rush. He played so friggin loud and was the local Ted nugent of the day.... Seems to me he tatoo'd "fuck you" on the side of his hand (that you'd see when you salute someone) to get out of the service.

They have a store out on Olive by the new inner belt.
Hey, the first PA I ever had was one of those Tapco's and a home brewed power amp into a pair of Voice Of the Theaters. And it all came from the store in Marissa. That shit is so old the printing silkscreened on the gear was in hieroglyphics.

I bought one of those Lab L5s brand new to replace my aging ampeg VT22 and I know why you dont see them anymore. THEY SUCK. Good thing I kept the VT22. Three quater inch plywood. Stainless steel chassis. Two EV twelve inch speakers. That thing weighed a ton but she sure kicked ass.

the VT22 was the V4 in a combo form, if I remember....2 12's, cranked like a mother, fine tone, and waaaay to heavy to carry.
dragon....how old are the tubes in your Ampeg?
