For those of you who long to be a "pro" engineer...

Last 2cnts on this one. At first I thought mixerman was a typical la pro recording egomanic shithead. Whining about crap that the average studio wanabe would die to be doing. However, for 8 weeks, I have seen what he has to put up with at this zoo, and has remained a Pro, with a very precarious job at stake, very difficult decisions to make, and I wouldn't trade places with him for twice the money. And if this is any indication of the recording "pro world", they can have it. But I have gained a lot of respect for mixerman, as he has demonstrated the side of that job that not many people ever see. And he handles it admirably. Given there are so many idiots, slacks, numbskulls, egomeglamaniacs, dorks, and other creatures of the zoo, constantly flabbergasting him, confounding him and demanding ultra cool objectivity, he succeeds where others would have given into the thought of murder. At least unemployment. Fatties no doubt helped. But his professionalism is what I admire. He has gained my respect, and gratitude for bringing to the mainstream world, what I consider to be brilliant and funny documentation of the idiocy of record company activities. If the rest of the normal business world were run like this...... geeeeeezzzzzz. Oops, maybe they are:rolleyes:

I've only one thing to add.

I think that Fingaz shouldn't be referred to by the politically incorrect term "wegro", but rather by the non-offensive term wafrican-american

Jeeez, yet another interesting turn! Lance read the diary! Can't wait to read his accounts of the auditions. And what will he write about Mixerman?

I hope that Lance has a nice way to put things down in writing. I like Mixerman's.
What a great story it is so far!

im wondering now, if Lance has been around here for a while.
is there a fungus among us?

So Lance Blew it....

He let the city slip out.. and then they pulled the entry and edited it.....

Hmmmmmmmmmm.

Very interesting dialog on the Rec Pit Today.

I don't think the name of the city was all that revealing. The number of Studios in that city is staggering. Im pretty sure Iknow which one it is, but information is usually pretty difiicult to get ahold of. Most big studios have a policy about not advertising who is on deck so that the publicity doesn't attract fans groupies etc... to hang out in the parking lot.
The bandwidth of PSW is being tested today, I have been struggling to get in. Im wearing out my reload button again!

At the risk of being inappropriately inquisitive, what was in Day 1 of the "Lance Chronicles" (which got pulled before I ever saw it)?

I actually guessed it was the city. The Mixerman diaries have been implying (or even outright saying) they're in LA, so it occurred to me that that could be disinformation. Otherwise, you would think Marv and Willy (or even Eeyore, Cotton and pals, though they're not the brightest guys around) would be all over it. (Maybe that's why Marv is apparently so fond of Mixerman?).

I'm not particularly interested in knowing what city it is (New York? Nashville? Duluth?), or who the people really are, but I miss the daily updates.

I did get Day 1 of the Lance Chronicles, but it's the edited version. Damn, I'm so curious. Can anyone who read the unedited version tell me the name of the city via private message? I suppose it wouldn't be good for Mixerman to reveal it in a regular post. Thanks!

I don't think so...

I just think it will slow down for the moment until MM gets back on the proj.

I don't think they've ever kept the LA thing secret. I seem to remember mixerman talking very specifically about the scene in LA...besides, in all of the threads he's been a part of over at prosound, he would've let his hometown slip at least once.

The more I think about it the more I wonder if the diary isn't fake, as a friend is trying to convince me. It would still be outrageously entertaining even if it was ficitonal.

The only thing I can remember from the Lance post was the name of a specific fast food restaraunt...maybe that could somehow reveal the location. I don't see how it would be any more revealing than what mixerman has already let slide. Anybody with some "detective" skills and a lot of free time could probably figure out exactly where they're taping and who's involved. Sushi bars that do things "just so", over-worked chocolate muffin delivery guys, the equipment rental shop just down the street, the dress and mannerisms of everyone involved... seeing that there are tens of thousands of readers and many of them must be in LA, I can't imagine that somebody wouldn't have gone and hung out near some of the bigger studios. All that plus the fact that the diary itself would be a major risk...I have to wonder.

BUT, I also don't care...I'm on that page every single morning. If this was a book I'd buy it! Fantastic!

Yes, MM had been talking about LA all along. But from what I could gather on Mixerman's forum Lance mentioned a particular part of LA. With that information and a little research, they say, you can find out the names of the studio and the band.

I was thinking that too... What a great book or even movie it would make.

Lance Says.. if it disappears, "There are plenty of other places to post it".

What a bad ass... I love him! :D

What as mess this is...

The Lance Diaries

Kind of dull, actually.

Some fool on Prosoundweb thinks it's just Mixerman writing in a different guise. Not likely. Mixerman's writing is full of "novelistic" description and digressions, while the Lance diaries are: "And then x happened, and then y happened, and I said A, and he said B." Lance's writing also has consistent grammatical and punctuation errors which are different from Mixerman's.

yeah that guy just wanted to seem smart by pointing out he knows this and that about writing. obviously, he knows nothing because the difference between the two is night and day.

how good of a writer would mixerman have to be if he was making all of this up and writing lance's stuff? to change your style like that takes a lot of attention and skill. of course, the whole plot would take significant skill to be able to write, even for someone who knows the industry inside out.

on another note.. lance rules :D he's going to get his hot head taken clean off, but you've got to admire his guts, both for posting like that and the whole thing with virginia skankey. he's certainly got character!
