I want to buy yet ANOTHER mic for vocals...once again, rap-r&b male vocals.
List ANY mic you feel beat a SP C1 for $199.99

well....there are a few options for around $200 bucks or cheaper. You can get a MXLV69 tube LDC for around $225. Or an MXL V67 for much less. And seeing as you're doing male R&B and rap vocals, you should have a good look at a Shure Beta 58. I've had some great results using a Beta 58 for rap/R&B.

These, including the SP C1, are all good budget mics. I don't think you'd be too disappointed with any of these choices, but in the end the choice is up to your own personal taste. See if you can A/B these mics at your local music store.

Hope this helps,
Dingo

Once again....... yeah there is, read all the replies you got the last time you asked this same question.

Depends on the voice. Better is subjective. Are there quality mics that can be had for $200 or less? Yes. Are they better than the C1? Well that depends... on the voice, on the purpose/use, on the preferences of the listener(s)....

"Better" is totally subjective. As far as the brighter-sounding "mid-scooped" variety, there probably isn't anything out there any better, to be honest.

If you're looking for something a little more on the neutral side that sounds very professional, I'd have to give the nod to the CAD M179. Given the fact it has the multiple patterns and all, I'd have to say it's my personal favorite in that range, but then it still depens on your taste.

He also wants a mic that he can yell/spit into without trashing it..... now, tell him if there are better mic's than the C1 for his needs or not. lol. I told him to get a dynamic mic.

Yes- the one that sounds better on that vocalist in that room in that mix on that track. Get over the idea that vocal mics are simply better or worse. What they are is right or not right. That's why you need to have options. For my voice, in most cases an AKG D770 is a better vocal mic than a C-1, which proves nothing, except that I sound good through cheap AKG dynamic instrument mics.-Richie

Oh yea Shit yea.

SM-7.

That's all you need for the yellers and/or spitters.

How much spit can a LDC mic like the C1 take before it craps out?

I told him to get a dynamic mic.

Maybe with a real kickass pop filter.

But you kinda' lose the feeling that way.

Nothing like swallowing an RE-20. :D

Yup, the v67g, and it's a heck of a lot cheaper too! ;)

Where? Are you talking used or new?

I recently tracked a Hip Hop song using a V67g.

2 male Vox
1 Female Singing

Used only the V67g, and onboard micpres.

PM me if you want to listen to how it came out.

No offence, but this all seem too mysterious or secret like, and make me suspicious. Most well known online dealers, like 8th Street and etc will match prices. So if you really want to help out all of us on this BBS, just post the link to the authorized Marshall dealer with the sale. And if you’re the authorized Marshall dealer please post a link to your store showing your business name, address, phone number and etc along with your Marshall MXLV69ME and MXL603SPR sale prices. Thanks

DJL, no offense taken. I don't really understand why you find it suspicious though  I'm not a Marshall dealer, but have the opportunity to buy direct from one, hence cutting out the middleman i.e. no profit for me. Just offering to help some members here that seemed interested. The "sale" prices you've requested I've already mentioned: $225 for the MXL V69 (1 already sold - 2 left) and $165 for the MXL 603SPR.

I don't see the big deal myself. These prices are quite common if one searches the internet carefully enough. Anyhow, for whoever is still interested at these prices, drop me an email asap because once this stock is sold there is a few weeks delay before new stock arrives.

If one can get better prices at GC or 8th street or wherever then that's great, I'd suggest buying from there. For the record, these are the prices I can get them for. I'm just trying to help out.

Cheers,
Dingo :)
