focusrite platinum problems

Has anybody else had problems with the focusrite platinum series? I have owned the penta and the trakmaster and they both went bad right in the middle of a session, on two different projects. I know these are cheap units but damn are they all made like crap, or have i just had bad luck. I now have the voice master pro and i'm sceared to use it when i'm clocking someone. Don't get me wrong i know focusrite produces some great gear the d2/d3 plug ins are great.

The first one I had got too hot and fried. I had another preamp sitting directly on top of the VMPro and it was too much heat wise.

Sam Ash replaced it and since the first incident I keep it at the bottom of my rack and leave some space above it for heat dissipation. No problems since and this one is going on 2 years with some heavy usage.

Looks like you have it in the right spot.
