Focusrite ISA 131 faults?

I have read a little about these and know they are a rack version of the 130 console channel strip. I also read that their only real floor is that they have no headroom.

I have seen two for sale that are in need of repair and am hoping someone out there may be able to have a guess at what is wrong with them and what it will cost to get them fixed?

The seller has given me this info:

'One unit has a power fault...nothing lights up when you switch it on...and it is not the fuse!

The other one does not pass the input signal through in any mode and it doesn't appear as a signal on its meters....there is an output present because you can hear thumps when you power cycle'.

Do these problems sound serious? Is it not worth taking the risk? How much are these units worth when in full working condition?

have you got a copy of the circuit diagram and how good are you with electronics!

how much are the for sale for? they are worth alot in working condition as i recall.

the definatly sound fixable from my understanding of such faults.

if you find the schematic they should be quite cheap to fix.
 
..from that description it could be ANYTHING from faulty wireing to completely burnt-out electronics due to use of wrong powersupply.

If they're cheap, buy them, and have your tech sorting the problems out..

I have an ISA110 schemo if that would help.

How much would you class as cheap? They seem to sell for about £1200 in the UK so...?

How much could these things cost to repair? I just thought, if I buy both, do you think it is likely that I could use one as spare parts for the other, so then I'd only have to pay for labour?
 
i would use them to get one working unit as a last resort really. the cost of parts should be pretty low. look in the back of sos, there are loads of ads for companies specialising in the repair of vintage and high end equiptment. ring them for a quote, are you in london? i think thats were they all are.
 
How much are these units worth when working? I've seen some on Gearonline for £1260 each! Is this about right, or do they sell for less than this?
