Foam for acoustic treatment

So i'm relatively new to this whole home recording lark so in the case of acoustic treatment would these bit of foam be alright to create DIY acoustic panels?

Impossible to tell what they are, but the best guess is 'NO'. Read the threads in the Studio Building section of these forums. You need basic Bass Traps which actually trap all frequencies. Foam MAY knock down high frequencies, which is not going to help your sound very much unless you are in a highly reflective room.

No. The stuff you want is Knauf or Corning soundboard. It is made from compressed spun fiberglass and is designed for sound attenuation. Best value is 2" thick x 24" x 48" batts.
