I thought that was excellent. I don't agree with the comments about the sound of the guitar, I loved the slightly overdriven sound when picked hard - it's emotive in the same way as the guitar sound used by the English artist Billy Bragg. If you've never heard of him, Propman, I'd recommend a listen even though I don't think you have a great deal to learn from him. I echo the Jeff Buckley comparisons. You're a very talented chap.

Thank you very much! The "emotive" effect is what I was going for with the overdrive. I'd heard it utilized in the manner by Andrew Bird many times in his music, particularly live.

As for the sound, I for one thought the quality of the recording was pretty darn good. I was using (what I think of) as an excellent condenser for my vocals and little stereo recorder on the drums that (to my ears) sounds amazing. My mixing in all honestly though was hasty and formalistic rather than well thought out and correctly executed. It was a cover song that was (as mentioned by a few) intended to be seen and heard rather than just heard. My focus was indeed more on the video than anything else.

Thanks (kindly) again!

-Adam.

Look, I originally thought "Bieber" before you'd played a note, not knowing who you were, because you look young and you have interesting hair...

Great work. I would prefer a cleaner guitar sound... and I get the references to J Buckley in terms of the overall sound... Don't let bubba sidetrack you with references to Billly Bragg - much as I'm a fan, he's not a quality singer, and it's quite clear you are.

For me, the Buckley / Tele clean sound would make this better than the Bragg / Burns (or whatever) slightly crunchy sound... but if you're happy with it, don't listen to what I have to say!

Awesome stuff dude...

Really enjoyed it, dude. Heart-felt, and a great performance. You've got the feeling / emotion of it down. Loved it. Thanks for sharing!

Note to self: Get a different haircut...
In all actuality, his haircut never really got on my nerves. The only thing about his appearance that seems to disagree with me is the two mile high forehead. It gives me the creeps. I've heard him sing and he wasn't awful (He's also a decent drummer) but the musical direction he took is in the complete opposite direction of my musical headquarters. I know some people like his music but to me, anything near that genre is vomit inducing garage. It's just simply not my taste.

I'm glad you liked my video. It's not that I don't listen to advice. This is just a cover that's already completed. I don't see any use in tweaking something like that.

Thanks again!

Thank you so much! If the emotion came through, I'm more than happy.

Yes, I was really referencing Billy Bragg purely for the guitar playing. There's just something gut-wrenching about the sound of an electric guitar that only very slightly distorts when you pick it hard. It's kind of like a human voice when it breaks up with emotion. Quality singing is overrated, anyway. Would many of the real worthwhile singers of rock and roll ever have got through the first round of "Pop Idol" (American Idol for the Septics)? Mick Jagger? Bob Dylan? Not on your nelly. :D
