I think that you would be better off, by getting two seperate monitors.

well i dont know if im going to get 2 monitors right away but hopefully both soon. im looking to spend maybe around at most 300 each, and id prefer to buy on ebay if it saves me a good amount. so 300 on ebay is probably a 400-450 moniitor new.

You're probably not going to be happy with 2048x768... You can do better than that.

What you want to look for is the resolution (at least 1280x1024 on a single unit or 2560x1024 on a double) and the contrast ratio (I would want at LEAST 400:1).

Just my $0.02

Contrast ratio and reponse time are the most important things to look for in a LCD display. Low contrast ratiom means a muddy image and higher response times mean image ghosting.

Yeah look for response time around 16ms, or less if possible, and try & get one with a digital input

so the response time on that sony was 25ms, and from what ive heard, i should go lower than that. how much of a difference does it make. i use my computer for recording only and the monitor i use now is really old so anything new would be an improvement. i will probably eventually do some movie musie as well.

get the biggest ones you can afford. My 17" is looking kinda wimpy.

StevenLindsey is correct. I got a 15" LCD mostly to gain space (I was using a huge HP 17" CRT) and to lose the RF into my single coil pickups. After a year or so I got an 18.1" for my computer in the house that I use for graphics and now I find myself really hating the small screen. Coming up: a 19" for the studio!
