Excellent, very catchy. What DAW are you using and what's your set-up.

Here's my criticism even though you didn't ask. I'm not a fan of distorted bass synth. At first, I thought the track was clipping. I'd lose the distortion and give it a nice punchy bass. Just my personal preference though, I know a lot like that bass sound.

Great mix though, really enjoyed it!

I like it - its fun - sounds balanced and bright - the only thing that bugs me is that the vocals seem somehow disconnected from the rest of the mix. I don;t really know how to describe it - maybe its a compression issue?

Could just be the crappy speakers on my PC so...

Maybe the gtr solo could come up a little to match the vocals at the end?

It's cool though I really like it.

What software is it?

Yeah I hear that in the beginning after that the other sounds mask it. I could turn down the buzz on the synth.

Thanks

Yeah I'm not really thrilled with the vocal sound. I'm using a Rode Nt1a and it seems difficult to work with. Alot of guys here hate that Mic. Someday I wanna get a TLM 103.

I'm using Cubase 5.5 64bit. I built the entire system for under 2k including the computer. When you consider what it costs to record one song, its really incredible what you can get doing your own set-up, these days. Its capable of running about 4-5 softsynths and 14-16 audio tracks at the same time. So much fun, and Thanks for listening!

I really like the song. It flows great and has a good feeling to it. The mix is good, everything sounds great together. I think it is very well produced. I think it is an awesome song.

Keep rockin'. It seems you gotta grip on this stuff.

I like cubase - I tried cakewalk/audacity/reaper - I got cakewalk LE 4 with my Alesis Multimix 8 USB 2.0 and am totally happy with it. I wish I could export mp3 but other than that I really like it.

not sure if it's the mic - I think it could be done with mixing - it might just be an EQ or compressor setting - or maybe even some reverb?

Thanks Trump appreciate that.

The vocal has a stereo enhanced doubler. It places (some) of them far right and far left. I have noticed it can sound really strange on some systems, I think I'll pull back on it a bit.

Thanks for the input.

hey Pete, two fairly new guys posting here today great :)

I liked the tune very different from what I generally hear in here, nice to have more variation..

the vocals were very well performed, the stereo effect could come down a bit, kinda loses them a bit sometimes

I like how it pumped, it took me buy surprise a little to begin with but once i got into the groove i got used to it...Id agree about the distorted bass comment, i thought there was clipping at first but Im on small speakers today so that threw me..

nice job mate :)

Thanks KC,
Yeah this forum is great I really enjoy being a part of this, both comments are valid, so I'll change a few things to improve it. Thanks again brother!

Good tune, kinda 60's.
I guess the "roominess" on the voice is a matter of taste. I wouldn't use so much, but if that's your style, it's cool. :)

I like the vocal fx. I think the backing music needs to be adjusted around it, just my opinion. I'm also using PC speakers and I'm hearing too much of the high freqs. i'll try it with bigger speakers when I get home. Thanks for sharing.

nice setup too. i wish i could run that many plugins and tracks at the same time. I'm using live 8 on a 2gb laptop and a line 6 ux2. It starts having a heart attack at 16 tracks and multiple plugins. So when I start building a new system, I'll surely send you a note for specs... if you don't mind.

I really like the music. Very catchy song.

A generally bright mix. A bit too bright for me.

Didn't care for that distortion thing that drones for most of the song. In general, the distorted things were too distorted.

I'd go for a more natural vocal sound. If it were me, it'd be double tracked with a subtle plate or room reverb.

The snare is pretty thin and slappy. I'd like one that you feel in your chest.

Really liked the song.

Thank You !!! ALL for your input, they were all valuable observation and I made alot of changes in regards to them. I'm alot happier with this new mix, its very close to done. Thanks Again.

Vocals sound more integrated so whatever you did i think it helped :)

Yes I agree, the vocals sound a lot better this time around. Much more integrated. The only slight thing I noticed was that the harmony on the line "I paid my dues" at 0:21 seems to be very present and then the harmony at 0:25 is much much quieter and when I first heard it, it took me a little off-guard. This may be what you are looking for, but I would probably bring the "paid my dues" harmony back a little bit. I'm just an amateur so I hope you don't mind me contributing. Overall though, very professional sounding. Great work.

Great song, I'm lovin the 70's vibe on this one

I don't know if it's cos I've been working on my own vocal stuff today and have become hyper aware but sibliance jumped at me a little.
Could try volume automation or a de-esser if it's not just my hyper awareness.

The only other thing I would say is give the guitar solos and flares a little bit more prominince they are a little burried to my ears

Really good sound you have

This is pretty cool. A different sound then I'm used to here to be sure (that is pretty much always a good thing though).

I found the mix overall to be overly bright, but that may just be me.

I liked the vocal effect and the spaciousness that it adds. However I am a generally a big fan of whacky vocals effects, so I am biased in that regard. I think you could get away with less of whatever that effect is and still keep the same feel, but again, it is your call.

I like the buzzy bass tone.

The whole arrangement is pretty fun and creative. Nice job. :)
