Hey! Me and my baby just moved into a new house, with her baby. This is the first tune in which I've recorded everything in the new studio.

I'm wondering if the overheads might be too loud here. I like the sound of the room, but I'm wondering if the cymbals and hats should come down.

Any other help is always appreciated.

Thanx.

Rami, I can't really comment on technicalities like cymbals and all that...but in general terms, that's a great sounding track with a strong bass, very good singing and sweet backup. A great performance on all the parts and an excellent mix to my ears.

Nice tune man, I can dig the guitar riff.

Kinda gives me Zep Vibes "Rover".

The choir you have in there at 1.15 is just amazing, caught that Bowie sound perfectly.

Your playing and preformance is tight and perfectly executed as allways.

Thanks for sharing man.

Great song Rami. Bass and kick have a great relationship going on here. Really nice. Fantastic vocal harmonies. :)

I think just the hats may be a little loud in some spots. The crashes and ride sound fine. Are you getting a lot of hi-hat in the snare mic?

Hey RAMI,

I love the guitar playing here, excellent. Perhaps a little wider panning for the two guitars in the intro but that's a very minor nit pick. The mix sounds pretty decent to me RAMI, nice work.
The overheads sounded fine to me. I am loving that guitar work in the intro. Sweet!

I hope you get that Spider out of your head!
I think your new room is serving you well. :)

Thanx alot for all the comments, guys. This was a first mix, so it's definitely not the last.

I find the volume of the bax ok except for the "DOWN....". They may be a little loud there. I'll have to listen with fresh ears in a few days.

Thanx alot.

Yo Greg, Just realised you asked me a specific question. Sorry, dude.

I don't gate my snare, so there is some hat in it. But it's no different than any other drum track I've done. I have a feeling it's just loud and the cymbals won't suffer if I bring the overheads down a teenage kunt-hair. I'll put it up when I re-mix it.

Thanx, bro.

Lol. No problem man.

Weird. Does this happen to you often? Or should I check if there might be a problem on my end?
It happens all the time on my end.....I'm shooting wireless about 75 feet......sometimes life sucks:o

I like the levels on the drums.
2 very diff guitar tones make thing interesting.
My only modification to the mix might be to lower the lead vox a bit - the performance is great & the Bvox are cool but the current Lvox level makes this song seem much more a vehicle for a vocal than a rock song in total. I don't know if I'm just gibbering though.

Sounds real good! I don't hear anything wrong with the the drum mix. Snare has good dynamics and a nice brightness to it. Harmonys sound great! I like the muted string flicking on the right. It adds a bit of funkyness:)

The first note that slides down sounds like it lands a little off too me and really grabbed my attention for some reason the first time I listened. I don't know if there is a wierd harmonic thing happening there or what sounds a bit wierd though.

Very nice sounding! for a Canadian;)

Thanx Rayster :) I have no problem lowering my voice, beleive me. ;) I might have sub-conciously brought them up higher than usual since I'm often being told they're too low. I'll try them lower next mix. Thanx, cob.

Thanx Freudian. I'm not sure if I know which note you're talking about. I'm thinking the very first slide in the tune??? I don't hear anything, but it might be because I'm playing that note an octave higher than where it "should be". It's an F# going to an A, but I did the higher F# instead of on the E string. Then again, that might not be what you're talking about, in which case, I'm just rambling. :D

You're right. It's the very first slide in the song. It slides down. The landing sounds a little off to me. In the long run the note sounds pretty right. I think maybe it just takes a little longer to settle in on the landing than my ears expect. Like when you hit the right fret (for the lower note) the string was bent a little bit at first.

Either way, no one else has mentioned it so..... It just struck me the first time I listened. Apon relistening it does not stand out to me really but still sounds a hair odd.

Probably just me;)

You may be right. I may be crazy. Anyway, I don't make mistakes. They're called "jazz".:D

Vocals sound great....nice lead in.

Drums sound really cool to me....very even for what I envisoin you playing...everything in it's place. Killer bass as always...nice level and just enough dirt to fit the song well.

To me, the whole setup seems pretty even, and the song is well done from start to finish...nice flow to everything. And great sounds...I like it much.

I think I hear what you're talking about now. I kept thinking you meant the first actual note in the tune. But that bends up, so I tried to listen to where else you might be talking about. And now I realize it's later in the riff. And you're right. Comparing it with the second time that bend happens (it's actually a hammer off, maybe I should have bent it), I don't nail it on the time you're talking about. It's like the string was slightly bent when I hit it, like you said.

Good ears, dude.

Perhaps next time I will get a brain and tell you the time in the song that it happens:) I might listen later and just post the time so we know for sure:cool:

EDIT: since I am not fully convinced we are talking about the same thing:) the note is ringing from the lead guit at 6 seconds. So I guess its a string bend not a slide. the wierd spot is between 5 and 6 seconds.

Nice guitar tone at the start. I dislike the distorted guitar that comes in. Sounds like distortion I used to get recording direct.
What was your signal chain for the distorted guitar?

Nice overall mix. OHs seem at ok level. Wouldnt hurt to bring them down, but they are fine where they are. Id compress the OHs though as the cymbals sometimes come in too loud.

Nice one. Your mixes have more meat these days, which is always a good thing.
