The song Power Dam Drive here was created using a laptop with a standard sound card. I used Power Tracks Pro audio to record with the linein of the PC. The voice was recorded with a PC mic. This one was created to demo what we might do with the sone lyrics. Find it at http://www.mp3.com/grouptherapy

That vocal sounded like the same effect used by the Dead on their Touch of Grey CD. I wonder if that's how they did it. The overall mix could've used a few more dB. Sooner or later someone's gonna wise up and create a soundcard for a notebook that has an outboard breakout box similar to the Aark or Layla. No roadie I know would want to trek around with a consumer PC system and a large monitor unless they were getting paid big bucks. But maybe this is a just an as yet unexploited cottage industry opportunity for makers of affordable rack-mount PC configurations. The consumer stuff is too fragile and doesn't take well to repeated hooking/unhooking operations. Actual working musicians can't afford to have the stuff break down on a gig.
