Here is a mix I did using Sonar 4.0

The beat & bass are MIDI. The guitar is all real.

Tell me what you think. Any ideas? I know some timings are off on the guitar. One take...just wanted it over with.

Welcome, Keith.

Other than the timing issues you mentioned, pretty nice pickin'. :) (I think) The acoustic sound is from an onboard (piezo) pickup, right? It sounds a little brittle to my ears. I would prefer to hear a more natural mic sound, but that's just me.

Mix sounds o.k., but it is pretty sparse. Is there more to this arrangement? Just the guitar + bass + drums seems to be lacking something. I kept waiting for it to really "kick-in" and rock a bit more, but it never did. If it is just an instrumental piece, i definitely could hear some piano and more guitars (electric).

Overall, thumbs up.

i think the biggest thing you could do to develop this song further is to swap a smoother beat in for that hilarious break-beat. it sounds like a beat off one of those rap-master 2000 megaphones haha. What kind of acoustic guiar are you using? it reminds of the sound of the carvin flatlines which i really enjoy. The large amount of reverb on the guitars and drums makes it sound "live". is that what you were going for?

Hey thanks!

The guitar Brand X, I got a new one last week, but the action needs to be adjusted some bad, I'll use that one next time with a mic. I agree the sound from the pickup is quite harsh.

Yes the beat is from my MIDI Keyboard from 1992, We all know how much has changed since then.

What you hear is what you get. It was just a on the fly sort of deal. Didnt really want to make anything of it. Although I will probably reuse the guitar tracks :)

Other than that, I was quite impressed with the quality. Im using a 6 Channel mixer going into the line-in on my PC. 24bit/48k

Oh yeah, the beat is pretty cheesy, but I figured you knew that. ;)

Another thought would be to put a noise gate on the guitar during the final mix, as you can hear a little noise at the beginning before the drums kick in.

I dig the guitar groove. Tighten it up, put some keys and more guitars, have the bass move a bit at parts and you've got a nice groovin' track!
