Don't expect too much!

And "In The End" has some problems with the MP3-conversion, which I can't get rid of. I've encoded the bastard 50 times now, and it still comes with "shivers"... Listen to it, and you'll know what I mean.

Any comments on the others, would also be great!

You'll find them here:

I like the piano sound. I just wish myplayer would stop "buffering"!

Cool power ballad!

Okay...I'm listening this to in lofi (my network card turns all dsl into 56K...go figure). I'm digging the guitars. The fake Strings are a bit annoying. You got a Ween vibe to your voice. The lyrics are hilarious.

You gonna work on this some more?

Thanks! The pianosound is a soundfont called "piano42.sf2" and can be found at www.hammersound.net ;)

The only problem with it is that when you "hold" the notes played, it will create some distortion in the right speaker. You can hear it at the beginning of the song... And I want to change it, but I haven't found a piano-sound I'm happy with.

Yep! :)

The lyrics was written as I sang, I wanted a vocal so I could hear what it would sound like...

And the string-sound by itself is not bad. It's just that I don't play keys, and I'm not near being able to arrange orchestral parts. But I had to try! ;)

Nice tune Moskus, kinda of a cross between Whitesnake (here I go again... sorry :) ) and REO Speedwagon. I know what you mean about piano sounds, I havent found a computerized one that I like either. This one is close though as in, fitting with the tune.

Very impressive, this style is not easy to pull off. Did a fine job!

...on your own, I presume? LOL

Downloading them, curious as hell....

Of course I expect much, you Cool Kid Who Uses Sonar!

But this isn't bad at all, what took you so long man? In The End is a great powerballad, sounds great. OK, you could use some vocal training (this can't be a surprise for you), but the rest is excellent. I really like your big guitarsound, it fits in really well.

Jazzhouse has a pretty cool mood to it too, neat drumprogramming (like in every song, btw). Nice sound. Shame your bass is out of tune on that one. :(

Anyway, cool job. You've proven that you really USE SONAR well!

(O, I know you don't want to pay for soundfonts - I was exactly like you about a year ago - but Sonic Implants has a pretty good one, you can even hear the hammers when you're playing softly. In my opinion it's very good....)

Actually it was not out of tune, but somehow it came out dirty whatever I did. Go figure!

Emeric, what is 'Whitesnake' and 'REO Speedwagon'? Was it a joke I was supposed to understand? ;)

And thank you all for the critics! :)

I had to go lo-fi cause of my 56k. I like the tones your getting. I agree with you on the piano. It was good but lacking something in the analog sound, I haven`t found one either that I really like that much in a font under 2 meg. Guitar sounded good, Bass was good but had a "shaped" eq that was kinda odd. Perc' programming pretty good man, and kudos for singing anyway, recorded well. Again, I like something in there about the tones, which soundcard did you use for this?

Thanks for those kind words!

And yeah the bass is EQed almost to destruction :(. But that's because the bass-guitar is sooo bad, that to get any useable sound, you need to tweak it to death!

I use a Audiotrak INCA 88 with a Souncraft Spirit Folio F1. I'm very happy with this sollution, mostly because it let's me record 8 tracks simultaniously... :)

Sorry Moskus,

I tried, I really tried to D/L this song...

But the Nowhere Radio server was slower than something that's really slow.

So slow it was really, really, REALLY slow.

So slow that it's not even moving... (get my drift???)

So, can you hum a few bars for me please??? :)

I'll try again later or tomorrow night to D/L your masterpiece.

Yeah, I know! No problem.... NoWhereRadio took a dive again... Strange that the exact same thing happened when James uploaded his songs....

hmmm....

Waldo? Do you hate Cakewalkers? ;)

Lucky me, I had downloaded it yesterday...

Well done, moskus.
All are great.

1. What Went Wrong (Part 1 & 2).
I can get it clear you obviously inspired by Pink Floyd on harmonies, temper, and Guitar arangement. If that's what you looked for, well congrats.. it worked pretty well. And don't worry, in the first part, your voices just fit into the song!!! All you need to do is make the songs longer. They're just too short I think. Work on these, I can hear it on the radio hit in near future...

2. In the end.
My favorite among those four. The first piano part somehow reminds me of the Beatles's "Let it be". However, the string seems too "faked". I know, it's not that easy to make string arrangement with soundfonts. Take months or so to master string arrangement with MIDI. Once again, great work on guitar. Thew whistle can't get out of my head.

3. Jazz House.
Great guitar capturing. HUGE & clear. The song however reminds me of the Doors in a better audio quality.

I really mean it, you should start a thread in Guitar forum...
"Finally I will share my -capturing guitar sounds without miking the amp- secret...". :D

Thanks, James! Means alot coming from you... ;)

1. Yes, Pink Floyd (combined with newer guitars)-sound was (and will always be) my goal. :D And that's the first time someone has said that my voice can be used to something, except expressing ideas... :D I'll work on the length, they're not finnished.

2. Thanks again! I'll work on the string arrangements, but it's difficult... And I can play just one song on piano, and guess what that is... "Let it be", that's it... ;)

3. I'll write in small text... Actually the guitar on this song has some noise added to it, because I was to lacy to get away from my CRT monitors... Those eons can really make huge noise! ;)

Thanks again, James! :)

I thought 'In The End' was a very pretty song. I liked the guitars - very powerfull. The strings sounded sweet. So do the keyboards.

Not sure about the whistling in the middle... A little pitchiness in the vox, very minor though. The two voices between 1:16-1:22 have some minor syncing problems. Again, very minor.

Was that line "it doesn't matter if your brother is a slob"? I hope so, that is a great line.

Did I mention I liked the guitars :D?

Good one.

hey moskus,
liked your songs alot. you have good songwriting instincts. keep up the good work.
try an encoder based on" lame", i think alto mp3maker is one that's free. Good Luck, Keith

Thanks, TripleM! :)

The voice will be re-tracked, and if I can't sing more in pitch, I'll have to bring in Auto-Tune (it's more and more seldom I use that plugin now). That was only a "test-take"... Thanks for the guidance! :)

I thought that it maybe got boring without the whistling, but maybe I'm wrong...

And I really sing "it dosen't matter if your brother is a slob". Bingo!

And the guitars is recorded through a Behringer V-Amp 2... ;)

Thank you, Keith!

"Good songwriting instincts"? Can I quote you on that?!? :D

I thought my Mp3 encoder (db-Poweramp) used the LAME-codec. But I'll track down CDex and mp3maker and give them a shot!

Thanks for the tip! :)
