hi there, i got my first track done. Well not done, but i got through it, and I'm pretty excited. There are flaws in it, so i'm going to read up on punching in. I'd like some feedback on how the mix sounds and if there is something elso to get the imaging better. It's a version of CCR Down On The Corner. My daughter is playing the bass guitar. Three mics were used to record it all. there are 6 tracks total. check it out at.....

Thanks, Jason

Decent first attempt but there are a number of issues (as you already know!)

Before you worry about the mix, you need to nail down the performance issues. That is all summed up by 3 words -- location, location, location... (no... sorry... that's the marketing speech...)
timing... Timing... TIMING.... drums, percussion, and bass must be spot-on if the "riddim" is going to groove.... as well, the tempo needs to be much more consistent.

The bass, while having the low-end, sounds muddy and a bit too "flabby" - you may want to consider taking a DI signal as well as a mic'd signal and combining them to taste. Or it could be a simple as needing fresh strings on it!

The drums actually sound pretty reasonable for this particular tune - laid back, kinda tucked away... The toms probably could come out more. The cowbell part has got to go - at least vary it or take it in and out in sections because as it is, it ends up sounding like a click track!

Needs more work but you're getting there!!

Keep at it.........

Hi Jason.
The Bear called it right.
It's kinda hard in the beginning, but the more you do it the better it'll sound.

I had to let the song play again. I broke out my Special 20 and joined ya. ;)

Keep at it.
