I have about £900 (1500 dollars) to spend on a synth. The problem is, I know nothing about them at all, good makes, bad makes (if there are any) and need some advice.

I record up to date pop / RnB kinda stuff. Stuff you might hear in the charts. At the mo im downloading synth samples left right and centre and its driving me crazy. What kind of synth can be reccommended to me for those types of sounds? I want good electronic sounds like saw leads/worms/percussion etc...

Is there such a thing?

Thanks in advance

If you are looking for some of the best bass and leads go fo a studio electronics SE1x...you can even find the Se1 wich is just as great..and later for 350 upgrade to se1x...Its actually the more affordable way to go and very comparable to a moog..if ya know the history they are the ones who originally fit the moogs with midi..here is a linkhttp://www.studioelectronics.com/products_se1x.php
they got some audio on there..as well...you can also while your on there check out the ATCX..and you can get a used atc for around 300 and this is a serious machine....also here is another link so you can check the user reviews of these machines.
here is the se1 http://www.sonicstate.com/synth_reviews/studio_se-1.cfm
here is the at http://www.sonicstate.com/synth_reviews/studioelect_atc1.cfm

as much as i'm feeling 50's Se1x, i'll have to say look for something really flexible like a sampling workstaion (motif, Fantom, Triton), that should cover most of your bases and if it has a sampler, then you have everything in one box

yeah the all in one package Id go with the fantomx...

I second what altitude909 said. Probably Motif would be the best for what you're going for, unless you lean more towards Hip Hop, then go with the Triton... either way, they'll sound dated in 2 years :p

That auction looks like a comprimised account, avoid at all costs (look at the sellers other recent items)
