Hi - I jsut bought Cubase 6.5 and I've never recorded before so this is totally new to me and I got a lot of questions to ask!

First one - on my first project I'm having difficulties with soud routing. When setting up a guitar track I can hear the guitar throuhg my headphones so I know I'm getting output, I can see the input signal in the overall input but I can't see it in the track I want to record in, or indeed any other track. Any ideas? Thanks!

Getting output through headphones from what? Your interface? What is your signal chain? Meaning, how are you connected to Cubase?

I'm using a Steinberg UR28M USB audio interface, I'm using Cubase 6.5 on PC rather than Mac. The Steinberg is connected directly to the PC and I've selected it as the audio interface in VST connections, thanks.

Ok, well first let's be clear. You actually select your interface in Devices>Device Setup...>VST Audio System-via the drop down menu. Then you create input/output bus's in VST Connections. Then you select the input bus via the Inspector window for each track.

Do any of these steps sound like something you might have missed?

Always willing to help liker of cake. :)

I've done all that, selected the input / output busses etc. - which I think are correct - and used the inspector window as described. It's defintely getting input signal as I can see the overall volume indicator increase in tandem with my playing, and I'm getting output through thre headphone, it's just not going into the selected track for some reason, it's probably something stupid I've missed.

Thanks for the help!

Check the monitor icon (looks like side view of a speaker) on the track you are trying to record to.

After you have 10 posts in the forums (get them HERE), you can attach screenshots of your settings. That would really help.

OK, will try that later when I'm back in the studio, cheers!
