Correct me if I am wrong. I intend to record mostly guitar and vocal live, and do drums/bass in MIDI.
I am ammazed that I cannot use any effect plug-in's durring recording! I have to record dry and apply effects on playback to the wav? I would have thought that Cakewalk and others had a monitor section of the console where you can hear effects after the input is sent to a buss. I am also suprised that the input faders are actually only playback faders, and input is only controlled by the soundcard mixer.
So therefore, to record on my computer, I need to get a mixer and outboard compressor/limiter in order to get good vocals and guitar. It seems like I should just buy a BR-8 (unless the effects on that have the same drawback).
Any comments? Am I correct?

Sure Goodrat. As far as I know there are no soundcards that support realtime pluggins. i think Wavelab does though but it's not a multitracker.
So you are right when you say you need a mixer and some effects before the soundcard.I hope some programmer is working late tonight to get one out cos every guitar player will want one. :)
cheers

I understand that n-Track Studio can insert plug-ins on the input. I downloaded, and the help file does say that. Have not tried it yet. But I have been reading about the problems programmers have with this. There can be delay and quality problems depending on the card used. Cakewalk is working on it.

good one !!!!

Hey Guys:

This is a good one !!!

I've often had customers that wanted to record with some effects but could never do it without getting them on the tracks.

Keep us posted on this one !!!
