Hi,
Just registered and new in this area.
Who can help me with the setup of:
Fostex FD8 HD-recorder, Fostex VC8 ADAT/Analog Converter and my PC equiped with the 1212I/O card of Korg.
The recording sw op the pc is Cubase VST Ver 3.6R2.

The purpose is to record and edit on the PC the 8 tracks of the FD8 and afterwards make the final mix + create CD.
The 8 tracks are ok on the FD8 (checked with the headphone). When i record with cubase, several spikes/clicks are in all the tracks.

Please, can somebody help me with or where can i find more info concerning:
1. the (optical) connection of the FD8, VC8 and PC
2. synchronization (Word Clock can be set on the PC-card, on the VC8: Intern (44,1), Word of Optical. The Word Clock of the FD8 can not be configured. Wich settings?

Thanks,

Luc

Luc,
I don't have your recorder, but all digital units have the same requirement. If your using ADAT, set all Word Clocks to 44.1K and all Word lengths the same - 16bit or 24bit. Try starting your recorder or any unit that will allow you to set it as Master. Then start other units and set all as slaves. You may have to try different units. There can only be one Master. You may need to set the VF-08? to Digital In Sync(meaning sync will come from outside), or Async as in self syncing.
Good luck,
Chuck
