Hi there,

Here is one of my first songs, it is not complete and I have not recorded the vocals yet.

The Drums are very repetitive (in fact the whole song is) but I hope there is just enought to make it interesting.

I recorded it all direct using :-

Pentium III 900mhz - 256MB
Delta 44 Sound Card
Audiobuddy Preamp
Cakewalk Sonar

The drums are soundfonts.

Do I have any talent.

Thanks in advance

Hi psneddon,

first of all, I really like the guitar work and tone.

But......................

This piece of music would be soooooooooooooooooo much more impressive if the drums weren't so sterile.

If you post this with the drums cut out I will get our drummer to record a beat to it, just to show you what I mean, or I will mix some more 'organic' drum samples with it. I guarantee you will think it sounds better, even if the style of drumming is not your cup of tea.

But to answer your question.... yes you do have talent. ;)

pAp.

p.s. sort out the ending though !

psneddon,
Listened to your song and really enjoyed it.

Love that sweet tremelo guitar.I would say you defiantly have talent in writing, mixing, and playing.

If I might, the lead at the end was good, just to harsh for the rest of the song.
The ending would be cool just fading out on a single strum on your major chord with that sweet tremelo.Just my 2cents worth.

I don't know what other insturments you have, but I used to turn the bass on my guitar all the way up and use that as my bass, and if you have an acoustic and a mic you can turn it upside down on your lap and hit it with your hands,it gives you a good wood block sound.(a poor mans tricks)

Looking foward to the finished song, keep on strummin.

Yep....you got talent and a good first song! It's a little stiff sounding right now and I agree with Muzeman's comment about the end lead. I really liked the melodic quality of the guitar parts.
Nice playing!

Thanks for your supportive comments!

I agree with what you've said about the ending and the ending guitar and I hope to redo the drums and fix it all up soon.

Thanks again

I thought the song was really impressive. I liked the lead guitar at the end; i didn't think it was harsh just a little too loud in the mix. Overall the recording was crisp and clear. A redo of the drums would be great as they are repetitive, but as you already stated you would like to redo them anyway. Good job!
