MagicJones.com (is a website)
So... I've spent the last 3 months building a new studio, which I'm now struggling to tune. So far, I've got two finished recordings, one of which I can post here. This isn't really music I listen to, but I can definitely appreciate it.

Anyway, the tracked drums were very flat-sounding, and the drummer played very lightly (which is odd, considering the type of music played), so I had to use triggers on kick and snare.

I present you "The Suffering" : "Just The Beginning"

Any nits?

(might not want to listen to this with children around, two F-bombs in the mix)

(also, if you feel so inclined, it'd be cool if you decided to give me some feedback on my new website, as well (in the sig) )

sounds great....not my scene obviously though im partial to a bit of white zombie

wouldnt have guessed you used triggers

Not bad. That snare sticks out quite a bit to me. Especially when it's flamming with the kick. Possibly even flamming with the original snare sound? A bit distracting. Maybe check that your samples are in line with what was played.
It could also use a bit of "booty". Perhaps a bit more in the way of low-mids?

Nice job overall!

p.s. cool website, by the way!

Yeah, the snare is a bit up front IMO. More distracting to me, is the high end on the kick. Just a bit over the top to my ears. I find it taking away from the song.

Great mix all around.

Yeah, thought it sounded great, guitar tone is great for this, vocals sound great as well.....personally like a little more "crack" to the snare.....very good, nice job!

Hey Jason - the new site looks really nice!

Last pics I saw showed maybe part of a foundation in a big hole in the ground. To see these interior shots now is pretty cool. It looks great.

The tune above is just not the kind of thing I can really evaluate personally, but it sounds great for the genre from what I know about it.

The slap on the kick is too much and unnatural. It lacks power. It's just click. The rest sounds okay for the style. I'd like a little more meat in the guitars.

Cool song. I don't have a ton to add however I agree that the mix needs some more low end. Too much click on the kick too, it sticks out like a sore thumb. I like the hard panned screaming, very cool.

I like the snare, actually. I don't know about "flamming", but it's a big, attention-getting snare sound, and it come up frequently enough to drive the song without overwhelming it, I think.

I do agree on the clickiness of the kick though.

The first impression I got from the site was good. The "Your Songs our Drums" image is great. It explains what service you offer succinctly and clearly.
Scrolling down, I see the footer. That's a lot of text for every page and honestly gets a bit cluttered. I might nix the Social media feed and blog updates from it and just leave the latest projects.

Thanks, Keith! Man, it's been forever since I've posted anything here. Thanks for the listen, dude.

nice sounding mix.

Thanks Sam!

Thanks, Jeffro. I agree, the low-end on this song is a bit of a mess. It's mostly (if not all) the drums. When these guys come in to do another song, I'm gonna have to address the dude's drum kit. Thanks for the kudo on the site, too!

Sounds like I'll have to address the snare / kick click. Thanks for your comments, Jimmy.

Yeah, it's kind of surreal for me to look at those pics of the hole, and look around at what it has become now. Thanks for the listen, Pete!

Another vote for click. Gotta do something about that. Thanks for listening and commenting Greg!

Thanks! Definitely addressing click now.

Thanks for the comments, Steve. I'll take another look at the bottom portion of the site and see what we can do about it. Take care!

I thought it sounded great. Great guitars, bass and vocals.

the drums are OK. But the kick has this high end clickiness to the attack. The drums are mostly kick and snare. Cymbals are comparatively a bit buried.

But that's about it. Sounded real good.

Thanks for the listen, and comments, Trip! This is the first time I've produced music like this, so all this info is quite helpful. Evidently, this band is planning on coming back in to record more, and when they do, I'll make sure the drummer's kit sounds acceptable before I record it. Can't believe I let that kit pass the first time.

Congrats on completing your new studio!

Thanks, Gerry! It's pretty much a dream come true, and so far, it sounds much, much better than the old one. I'm waiting for a client's payment before I post another song, but I'm anxious to get all your input on something that's more acoustic-sounding.

Thanks again!

Sounds nice and phat, Jason!
The vocals could come up just a tad. Great guitar sound, how many tracks?
I dig the snare sound, the kick could use some more life. It all sounds very professional though, your new studio's looking good! ;)

Vocals could be more distinct, guitars could sound little harder but these are just details. As was already said - sounds very good. I'm really impressed.

Thanks, Joey! Feels good to be back in the saddle, producing music. Only two guitar tracks, but I'm using a combo of amps to get the sound. One of the tracks was through an Orange Tiny Terror. The other was through an Orange Dark Terror (both gains at 100%), all put through a single SM-57. The guys are coming in to record more, and this time, I'm gonna get the drums right, so I don't have to trigger, and I'll be getting an even more aggressive guitar sound. Gonna kick some bootie.

Thanks, Snik! I'm sure you'll enjoy the next round which should be coming in a week or two.

Thanks for the listens and comments!

A smash in the face, great sounding stuff! Love the break when everything stops and you just wait for it and boom.

Snare is a bit forward, the kick sounds like the click for the genre but I prefer some bottom to the click.
Nice job otherwise.
