This is my first commercial mix ever. It was the first track on a 5 song EP and I was wondering what I could be improving on as well as anything you can hear wrong with the recording itself. It was tracked in my basement.

Micing
Drums: Snare - Audix i5
Kick - Audix D6
Toms - 2x Sennheiser e835s
Overheads - 2x MXL 840s

Vocals: CAD GXL2200

Guitars + Bass: DI through Amplitube 3

Sounds pretty good. I don't like the room sound on the lead vocal. If you don't have something nicer maybe just turn it down (the reverb, not the vocal) Actually for this genre the vocals could be just a touch louder. Overall the mix is pretty good. If you don't want to turn up the vocal, you could turn down the guitars, they are very loud, but sound good.

Overall nice work, cool pop tune, I like it!

Yep, I'd turn the guitars down a notch and let the drums and bass shine through more. The guitars are good but they generate a certain amount of ear fatigue after 4 minutes. Otherwise the mix sounds fine. It's a good tune w/ great lyrics. If it were me I'd probably make it about a minute shorter - more like Buzzcocks - quick and to the point.
