Damned if I do
Here is a new mix of my new song. I added some 'verb to the acoustics, some woodwinds and strings with my X5D, some compression to the drum bus, and generally tweaked all the levels!

The acoustics were mic'ed with an MSH-4.

What's the bandwidth Norman? I will be here all day if it's 320....

192, and it took me a half and hour to upload it on my dialup!

I just got an error: not found....

Lemme try it again...

Hmm, strange. I just checked the link and it worked for me.

It must be my server. It's funky sometimes. I will have to wait until I get to my brother's house...

There's supossed to be

fid=6028

right after the question mark on the long URL you posted. Try adding that.

I dig the overall sound & feel of this. Percussion sounds tight and true. A little too much reverb on the acoustics for my taste - but it does sound light & airy.

Nice job.

That's the best critique you get right now. Gotta finish the Pitt/Cincy game. ;)

The strings and winds add a tension and a warmth from the first version, but take away some of the openness and ranginess and....well, rawness, I guess....:D

Yeah, I know what you mean. I should probably just pull them down a bit; they're meant to be enhancement that doesn't detract.

Thanks for listening. I went back and forth on the reverb amount, and it could probably be less.

It's taking me a long time to find this file...i'm on broadband. I'm annoyed now because I really wanna hear the MSH mics. :( I'll try again later.

FUCK!
Same problem. The URL is there, it's just this damn military server... We got ripped off in the bandwidth because the Navy hogs it all. They can teleconference home from Iraq like you are watching TV, but I can't download a song.
Oh well, my brother has broadband!!! :D

Those MSH mics sound pretty nice on the guitar. I like the writing and the mix. The tune is complex yet simple, haunting and inviting. The drums playing/recording is really nice too. The keyboards are not too overpowering, and just add a touch of synth to the mix - cool!

Nice Mad....like was said before....sort of has a Jerry Cantrell vibe. I really like that. Great sounds all around, but I especially like the acoustic. Very nice.

Cool tune, and the mix is sounding very good to me....

....can't seem to get it out of head.....very insinuating, keeps growing and turning....the simpler it seems, the more complex it becomes...

The acoustic sounds live. Is this becuase of added artificial reverb or the way it was recorded?

It's actually 2 differents acoustics - my El Benito and and old beat-up Jasmine. I tracked them in my control room which is not very live, and added some reverb in the mix.

Cool idea using 2 different acoustics guitars.

Id stil like to hear less reverb for a more un-live sound though. :)

That's it - I'm definitely cutting back on the reverb! The original mix had none at all on the acoustics.
