I liked the overall mix, but the pizzicato strings need a little more variation to get them sounding less MIDIfied. Same with the drums. Try a clarinet instead of the trumpet.
Please elaborate on what you used here.

That's good stuff. Like the take5 kinda feel in 6. Great piano sound and flute sound. Only thing I could suggest is to kill that midi muted trumpet or whatever it is. If it's a real trumpet I apologize in advance!!

Thanks for taking the time to check out the track.

I used PTPA by PGmusic as the recording software. I am using a SB Live card with soundfonts found around the net. I have been using a technique of recording the midi sounds as individual wav files and then mixing from there. The flute was recorded live and then some reverb was added via re-recording the track using the SB Live reverb.

The drum soundfont came from HruskAudio. I split up the drum trackand then recorded each drum sound as a seperate wav sound also. Did you think that the panning on the drums was to severe?

That was great...I'd like more drum sound (just my opinion, mind you) with a "brushier" sound....super good playing...gibs
 
I agree with gibs on the brushes. That would be "icing". The tune sounded very jazz recording-ish. It sounded sort of old school you know what I mean? That's not negative, it's positive in my ears! I agree that the midi trumpet sounds a little too canned, but I like the addition of it. Can you get someone in there to actually play the part? That would be great. One other change I would make (listen to me, yeah right, like I could write something like this) would be to change the strings to guitar. I nice jazz guitar tone would sound similiar to the strings in a way. But play the same thing, it's a cool part. I like this a lot, I'd love to hear more. I'm embarassed to say that I know next to nothing about this style of music, but I sure do enjoy it.
 
Thanks to all for the encouraging comments.

The comment regarding the pizz strings is the most common crit recieved here and at another forum I frequent. I am playing with the track now testing sounds and parts. I am working with the midi trumpet adding dynanics and editing level ona note by note basis to try for a more natural feel. Adding brushes to the drums is tougher as I don't play the drums and my midi drum chops are in the beginning stage.

I do think the drum sounds themselves turned out real good. The Hrusk soundfonts really stand out.
